Cryptid hunting voice: how many annoying white dogs there are? Some people say there are many dogs, but only one Annoying Dog... But could one dog be capable of all of this? [Montage of all 4-legged dog appearances that aren't specifically lesser dog, greater dog, or endogyny)

((The answer is probably yes, when dog is god.))

a theory on sans: he isn't wearing a shirt
you can see some black things in the chest area of his model, it looks like he's either wearing a skeleton shirt, or has no shirt on

also, last night, a silly scenario with stereotypy!chara popped into my head
basically: 'stereotypy!chara who, as well as the repeating things stereotypy, has a chewing their shirt stereotypy which they usually go to when really stressed. several years postgame they go to watch a movie with frisk and asriel and get really excited about the movie and also really annoyed at the pre-movie ads/short. they start chewing on their shirt. asriel says "i get that you're mad at the short but can you stop eating your fancy shirt?"'

This line caught my eye first and for a minute I thought you were talking about music horns. Which are for plaguing Papyrus's life with incidental music, naturally.

ahahaha yeah that's what sans's horn is for.
i was talking about boss monster horns though...leaning towards thermoregulation/sensory/attractiveness

it would really help if there were more boss monster characters, so we could see if toriel's short horns are a female boss monster thing or a toriel thing.

also my shipping of frisk<3<asriel is also shipping of frisk<3<flowey

ETA: you could even have a frisk who was like. starting tending towards evil but like hell are they proving flowey right oh no now they've started saving things they can't stop

you could theoretically have the entire pacifist route be because of frisk<3<flowey and have it be at least somewhat plausible

a thing: it wouldn't really make much sense within the tone/theme of the game for the humans to all be pretty serious
the game's main theme is that the monsters and humans are Not So Different
so the humans are, probably, mostly whimsical dorks in the same kind of way as the monsters although with less backflipping out of windows

the panels where she worries that she offended undyne by saying that sleep was for the weak... damn, i sure know that feel.
yep, and humans are pretty whimsical dorks in our own world (just look at the out of context quotes thread if you want proof) so i can totally believe that.

I keep seeing in fics and a couple times on tumblr posts that
Sans's worst action is only fighting if everyone is dead, even if the player kills Papyrus. Because yeah, I think Sans couldn't forgive himself for that, but it's PAPYRUS. If you kill him, he dies telling you he still believes in you and that you can do better. He's not a vengeful guy. To some degree, when Sans decides to break his promise to Toriel, he's also going against everything Papyrus believes and he knows it.

If Papyrus somehow found out about the resets, I don't think that he'd be upset about Sans not avenging him. Stabbing you in the back after offering mercy? THAT would be a sticking point.

(Fuck, I didn't mean to make that pun, but I'm leaving it in for posterity and adding that Papyrus doesn't have a vengeful bone in his body.)

    apparently fish can get sunburn.
    lizards, however, don't.
also the dreemurrs seem to have long enough ear fur to stop their ears from getting sunburnt
so of the undertale cast, only the humans and undyne can get sunburn anywhere except for the tips of their noses

To be fair, I suspect Sans doesn't actually believe you're really going to spare him, given that you'll have cut down an unresisting opponent at least once by the time you get to him. He's not necessarily right about that, but it's understandable that he'd be worried about ending up on the other end of a betrayal kill, given the circumstances.

(And if Papyrus is willing to forgive a random stranger for mass murder, he's probably not going to hold too much of a grudge against his own brother for being a ruthless bastard. Sans would probably get a very disappointed lecture, and then they'd be more or less okay.)

There is no timeline in which killing Papyrus is genuinely self-defence. He never does the damage to kill you himself, and the game's mechanics are such that you can only kill him when he's sparing you. Sans' "spare" action is a hilarious inversion on us, very much a Justice thing of reaping what we sowed by having reached his fight.

In all fairness, he does still fight you, and I could see something along the 'frightened child with more power than they realize making bad decisions' theme. But if you're fighting Sans, you've gone rather beyond that.

Yeah, that's a point. Fighting Papyrus just requires reaching Snowdin, which we do that in every possible run. It's definitely plausible for the frightened child to have not yet figured out reloading to change their choices, to have not talked to the froggit that gives the advice about colored names, to have not tried saving Toriel.

Fighting Sans requires us to empty each region. Not just kill everyone we encounter and run when we can, but to actively LV grind by searching for more enemies, even though it takes longer and longer for encounters to happen. That's way past scared frightened child territory. So a geno!timeline Sans knows us as the jackass who did all that stuff. He doesn't get the dubious pleasure of remembering the timelines where we were buddies. For him, it is the best and worst punchline.

also that pronoun chart puts something i noticed in the game into numbers: monsters seem to use it/its as a default pronoun, instead of defaulting to they/them.

in which case, singular they/them would likely take the role of a third-gender pronoun, and calling someone they/them would be have exactly the same connotations of being sure of someone's gender as calling someone he/him or she/her except for a different gender.

    EDIT: clarification
