cross is simultaneously the best and worst greg in existance. Also Nea/Cross is the love that transcends multiple really confusing plotthreads I suppose :P

No matter what bizarre plot/au/batshittery, they will always have been together at one point.

 

The anime stopped like right after they killed the Level 4. Like that entire fight was pushed shorter to cap off the anime, so a lot of the details were lost.

(Which Lenalee's arc suffers for it.)

yep linali isn't treated well by how the anime ended (or the entire anime for that matter), and then it also left so many plot threads (the 14th stuff, the crystal type stuff) just kinda hanging, dangling over the side of a cliff.

 

i think i realized why the earl is such a jerk

so, theres god, and god did something to piss the earl off, and the earl has been holding a grudge since 7k years (geez simmer down, that cant be healthy)
and theres the innocence, probably created to bring salvation, but also to reacts to its wielders emotional state
hatred is basically the diametric opposite to innocence, aye?
and about all exorcists hate the earl. that hatred is fostered.

the earl wants that.
if he is fought with hatred (which cross said you cant do, as in, you wont be able to defeat him), it will corrupt the innocence, and play right into the earls hand.

 

I just got caught up and I have some things to say:
1. I think Jasdevi are genderweird by word of God
2. I can't get behind the Asia branch's guardian deity being called Pho because that is a food durngummit and she is not
3. EVERYTHING ABOUT KANDA AND ALMA GIVES ME EMOTIONS (Also dear Hoshino or her editor or whoever is responsible for Kanda's Girlfriend In A Past Life: I see you trying to make this a straight thing. You have failed.)
4. Johnny Gill is best boy the end
5. OTP (that's One True Polyship) is Everybody/Allen because that is how I roll
6. How many shonen manga exist where I actually care about the female lead's character arc? Not very, that's how many. And yet I love Lenalee and Miranda so much. So much. I realized there was something special going on here the minute Lenalee asked Anita for a hair tie and we passed the Bechdel Test.
7. Man, last time I left off on this manga level 3 akuma were the big new thing. Times have changed. I'm digging the new ethical complexity and actually interacting with mundane people stuff, I was kinda getting tired of long fights with gradually increasing power levels.

Also don't get me started on how much the fandom tries to make Alma/Kanda a straight thing. It's painful. There's so much past!Alma/Kanda art, it thoroughly disgusts me.

(Personally I don't see past Alma being a woman as trying to make it a Straight Thing, I see it as Alma Karma: Fuck the Order Fuck the Noah Fuck Gender.)

Aaaah, Hoshino names. I distinctly remember teenage me ranting at any uninterested party that I could get to stand still about Arystar Krory. Arystar Krory. Uuuuughhhh, I'm still sore about it eight years later.

(I also ranted to uninterested parties about how fuCKING GOOD THE ART IS OH MY GOD and it just gets BETTER ahhh I'm in bliss looking at those lines. so pretty. I wanna get that good at lines some day.)

I just love how the German version sometimes goes 'okay we have word of god for this romanization but NAHHHH' and then half the fadom can't agree on how which name has to look and I swear Krory is the worst of the bunch but sadly the one almost everyone uses WOG-romanization for and SDFGHJHGFDSDFGHJ

God. Yeah, the sex appeal on some of these characters is just unreal. Allen's first encounter with Tyki Mikk was almost certainly formative of my sexuality as a high schooler. And Jasdevi are so hot?? Fucking Noahs. And Kanda. And Alma, obvs. (For some reason Lavi never really affected me, even though he seems like he would. Like, Cool Older Guy, you know? But nope, he doesn't have that aura of power that gets my attention.)
@IvyLB I've mentally decided that Allen had a birthday somewhere in all those little timeskips so he's sixteen now, which makes me feel slightly better. I mean, he looks so much older now than in the early chapters, that's gotta be deliberate.

 

I remember thinking Road and Lenalee were really pretty. I don't remember what most of the other characters looked like.

 

It's the "can and will this person probably murder me, while somehow remaining incredibly attractive?" thing, I think.
