... well, that would be the natural conclusion, wouldn't it, them being a breed? There are lots of breeds of cats, after all.

 

Bill is stir-crazy and leans down, sticking his head out of the bubble to watch and listen to whatever's going on below. He fights back the urge to scream for five minutes without pause.

"There. That right there is why we're worried." Jezebel sighs.

Jezebel makes a face. "Okay, Mab's truth charm was okay with me because bucko was bragging about sort of getting away with hurting your friend, but that's gross. Please stop."

 

-Neko Notori perches on his head.-

 

"Bill? What's going on?"

*Regardless, she flicks her wand and Cronus stops dancing.*

 

He screams back.

Bill carefully pets the flying circular cat, retreating back into the bubble with it still on his head.

"Beats me! I just get a little restless sometimes! .... All the time, actually!"

 

"Yes, but I think it's wrong. Breeds of cats exist because people chose who mated with who, and I think the Jellicles work that out for themselves."

As, uh, tempting as that is, I'll have to pass.

Well, then. Hm... [he frowns] I'm sorry.

[he pinches the bridge of his nose] Jellicle isn't my species! I'm a cat! A cat that is a jellicle, and a conjurer, and half-Bombay if you must know. It's...we're a family. And if you're evil, no, we generally don't want you in our family. Simple as that. All cats where I'm from could be jellicles, if they wanted, but some of them like to do things like kidnap people instead.

[he wilts a bit] That's true, I suppose. Most of us have become rather adept at avoiding humans if we need to, in all honesty. We've found it's simply safer if they don't think of us as anything more than their companions, which isn't to say that doesn't have its downfalls. We've always had secret cat-spaces that humans aren't privy to, and that's where most of us go to meet and dance and...hide, if need be.

 

Well, yeah, maybe, but... humans went and divided themselves into breeds too, all on their own.

Jezebel shrugs. "The way he initially told the story, it kinda sounded like maybe he raped someone. I'm not sure I can blame the kid for wanting to know how dangerous he actually is. She wasn't doing it just for the lulz."
