Yes, I think this is disturbingly plausible. At the very least, the thrill they get from it overrides any concerns about whether it is welcome; it's an end in itself.
What on earth would be the way to combat that though? I mean, if it's for the loss of purity, the only thing I can guess is superseding them and sending a dick pic first, as if to say "Whatever you are trying to take is not available, and I'm going to shame you instead"? And even then, it seems like a lot of subconscious reasoning more than overt, or at least I would hope there's not people thinking YEAH, I'M TAKING AWAY LADY'S PURITY POINTS BY SHOWING MY KIBBLES AND BITS. Not even because that seems malicious, but because it seems... Sad, in a way. Denigrating yourself as well as others for the sake of an illogical contest of virginity that the other party isn't playing, as well as ruining you chances for (in the most callous of views) a chance to actually score or find someone who could be a potential date in the future.
