Also, the Andromeda Initiative on the masseffect site revels that PeeBee and the krogan Drack both arrived at the Nexus long before the Andromeda project, and are implied to be many centuries old? (It'll be cool if PeeBee is in the middle stage of Asari maturity, since Samara was on the late end and Liara was practically a baby.)

I'm really hoping ME Andromeda turns out good, I've been kind of wanting to play Mass Effect games again. I'm just... kinda cautious and want to wait for reviews first. I've been trying to play ME2, but nothing I try is working to get a save imported. Like, I found a ME1 save and downloaded it, but running the config utility doesn't pick it up and make it available to ME2. So frustrating :(

...apparently the solution was to take the provided ME1 save and beat ME1 with it, thus causing it to create a new transferable save. WHY.

I actually kinda miss ME3 multiplayer too, it's just stressful when I don't remember what to do after so long away.

I'm pretty happy with how mea is looking right now? Like I've been tempering my expectations a lot, and it's still gonna be weird to not play Shepard. But I think getting to the place where I know it's not going to be me3 (my fav game of all time) and that's okay is what got me there.

Despite what they're saying, I would be surprised if mea doesn't turn into a series like the trilogy (assuming it's successful and well received). So I'm okay with this one being a bit lighter in tone and atmosphere. ME3 was so heartbreaking (one of the reasons I love it), but it really earned it with the build up in 1 and 2. And looking at the trailers and stuff, I know I'll at least /enjoy/ playing it because the combat looks really fun and I love me2 and me3 combat (only games I've ever bothered to play on hard settings).

Right now my only big disappointment is that it seems like they're not playing up the refugee angle for the Milky Way races. Which seems like a missed opportunity for a very timely narrative. I think leaving before Shepard's choice was the only way to do it, but I'm still happy it's that way. It also means i can headcanon my Shep having some cameos, which is great.

Ngl, I'm super hyped about the combat in ME:A. It's looking really good so far.

I'm also really excited for the new companions, because so far all of them look like fun.

I was concerned at first about the three skill limit, but with the favorites wheel, I think it's gonna be jut a lot of fun. I'm so excited to have a Vanguard-esque set where I can CHARGE-NOVA-NOVA everywhere, but also a Sentinel-esque set like my ME3 set where I could set and trigger pretty much every type of explosion combo in the game (will be more limited with only three slots but same principle).

CAN I JUST SCREAM ABOUT SENTINEL IN ME3 FOR A SEC BC IT'S SO FUN. I'm playing on Veteran for the first time recently and just actually realizing that combos are a thing. Sentinels can easily prime 3/4 (biotic, cryo, and electric) and if you want you can get fire with the extra skill and take Carnage or Incendiary ammo. Also if you're watching your weight and take the cooldown reducing options, Throw has next to no cool down and can detonate all of them. Tech armor makes you super durable on top of everything. On lower difficulties and protection missions (Like Surkesh) you can basically just stand in front of the thing you're protecting and kill everything while shots just bounce right off you. It's so satisfying, especially after how crappy sentinel was in the first game.

combos are so much fun! and yeah, I'm pretty excited about the "three skills but basically freeform" thing myself!

hey, so, i'm attempting to continue writing my "currently at 61000 words and not even midway through act 1" longfic, Every One That Asketh. i would love to have someone to chat about it with. it is post-ME3 fic that involves Reaper mysteries, and focuses heavily on post-war galactic rebuilding, political fallout, and interpersonal relationships that make the galaxy go round. it also involves a surprise bab and f!Shakarian because that's how I roll (and that was the original kmeme prompt that my brain ran away with).

note: i'm not allowing myself to commit more than a couple spoons once in a while to this, because real life has lots going on at the moment, but it's my biggest creative project that got more or less backburnered three years ago, and i want a steam valve for creativity when i need to think about something that isn't opera/art song for a little while. i'd love it anyone was interested in coming along for the ride, or at least peering through the window every once in a while to cheer me on. :) if it's not your thing, don't force yourself to read it, but if it is your thing, i hope you like it.

Man, I really appreciate that the Andromeda Initiative symbol is a variant on the shape of the N7 symbol, because that continuity of logo design pleases my lizard brain.

@Kaylotta it sounds interesting (esp the Reaper mysteries), but pregnancy is a huge squick for me so I probably can't ever read it...

I know this is a me problem, but I tend to dislike many people's red endings. The ones that treat red like the "good, happily ever after" ending. Which it's not. That being said, I have no problem with people who go, fuck that ending, here's what happened in my ending. It's probably in part because I chose Blue and so many people told me that was the worse possible ending. So I'm a little grumpy. I also don't dislike the red choice in itself--Shepard can make that choice and have it be the right choice (similar to the Doctor choosing to end the Time War like he did before the weird Moffat retcon).

But like, most of your crew is gonna be pissed if they learn what you did. especially if you worked your butt off to prove to the galaxy that synthetics were people. Joker is probably never gonna forgive you. Tali and Kaidan will probably gonna think you're a hypocrite (I can see these two coming around, but not Joker). And /that/ is interesting to me.

Sorry if this came off too strong I have a lot of feelings and a lot of salt about how the ending is treated by fandom at large.

People actually chose the red end?? D: But what about the geth?? I mean, I accidentally killed the geth on my run, but other people didn't do that.

@Kittenly I understand your salt. I definitely have some of my own salt. :P I'm currently being cagey about which canon ending I picked for the fic because I'm attempting to invert it a bit and I don't want to give too much away.

just for your info, regarding the pregnancy: there is barely any graphic detail whatsoever, if that is what bothers you. the closest we get is chapter 27-28, which is labour, and again not very graphic - the most graphic thing is probably a couple of paragraphs of visual description of Shepard, which focuses way more on Reaper shenanigans than the fact of the pregnancy. THAT BEING SAID - if it's the idea of pregnancy in general, then that won't help you much, haha. it's not a significant focus by any means, but if that squicks you right out then I totally understand :)

Red is by far the most popular option. Many people I've encountered seem to just gloss over the fact that you committed genocide and/or killed one of your crew.

@Kaylotta yeah it's mostly the whole idea, and "babies ever after" is one of my most hated tropes. That being said, if you want to bounce ideas or just sperg at me feel free! I can talk about it and listen, reading is just a little too close for me :(. But I'm def intrigued now...

I chose the red end because the geth got fucked over in my playthrough (Tali dying in ME2 really screwed my ability to get the reconciliation up) and I wanted my Shep to stick around, but on the whole I think the blue ending is probably the best overall. I have Extreme Objections to the green synthesis ending though.
