I hope I'm not making a nuisance of myself by barging in like this. I just... love X-Men so much. I do not know Trollhunters, but here are some random things about Scott's fucked up love life just in case any of it helps?

Spoiler: the incomplete love life of Scott Summers

After the Phoenix incident, he married Madelyne Pryor, a woman who was a dead ringer for Jean Grey.

Spoiler: Plot spoilers through the comics Inferno event

Because comics, it turned out she was a clone of Jean Grey, who was dead at the time of the marriage. Scott ended up leaving Maddy and their infant son for Jean when she came back from the dead.

That dynamic could probably easily be reworked as a guy who's looking for a girl as wonderful as his sainted mother, and the woman who eventually realizes she just can't be that.

There is also that thing he has in the movies, where he is *very* concerned about the chemistry between Jean and Logan. That could totally play as an overprotective son who doesn't trust this guy who's into his mom.

And then there's Emma Frost, a formerly evil telepath whom Scott dates. She's one hell of a woman, smart, frighteningly capable, wealthy, charismatic, confident, and a total bombshell, and she knows it. And yet she has this incredible fear that she'll never measure up to Jean in Scott's eyes. That could also play as a girlfriend who's afraid she'll always be second to her boyfriend's mom.

I apologize if I'm telling you things you already know.

x-men is!! aaaaaaa!!! i really need to get into the comics at some point, because most of my exposure to it has been through the films and x-men: evolution, but god damn it's been so formative for me and just thinking about X2 especially makes me vibrate in my seat because it is so good and i love it so much ;;;u;;;

(also oh MAN the dynamic there would be complicated and probably take some further twisting and i need to think about it/explain how it'd fit in with the trollhunters side of the dynamic a bit when i have more wordbrains but EMMA FROST!NOMURA IS FANTASTIC GODDAMN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)

 

Aaaaaa I love Evolution but I haven't gotten to see the whole thing. (I used to furtively watch it in the basement with the sound very low because I was going through that awkward decade or so in which liking something made it deathly embarrassing.) I must fix this! And rewatch X2 which I adore!!!!

Emma Frost absolutely broke my heart and won all the sad little shards forever in Astonishing X-Men (2004). The first issue appears to be here, but I will excerpt three pages from near the beginning in which the Emma-Scott-Logan-Dearly Departed Jean dynamic is introduced.

For context, the X-Men are just beginning a new school year at the Xavier Institute. Various members of the usual cast appear as teachers, and I believe Emma is actually running the show. She does have prior experience running a school for young mutants, even if hers was historically sorta evil? Anyway, after a hell of a welcome assembly, everyone seems a bit keyed up.

yesssssss!!! evo is one of those series that i have Many Criticisms of the Execution of, but also i love it so much and binge-watching it holed up in my room as a teenager was fuckin fantastic and i hope you enjoy it :DDD and YES X2 IS ALWAYS WORTH A REWATCH GO YE FORTH AND ENJOY

nice!! i hope you enjoy it! there's some Painful Obligatory Teenage Het Romance and irritating few female characters thus far, which sucks but also the plotting and characterization and animation are fantastic, there's tons of worldbuilding details subtle and otherwise, and it is hard to watch without falling in love with at least one villain, Monster Spouse Material Abounds and it is Good

(also the changelings Kill Me. oh god they hurt me and i love them so much. clutches heart)
