some of them, we don't really expect to be edible. for example, dandelions are edible.

others are not particularly good-there's a type of carp that tastes good enough, and is easy to catch (just...put a net up and run your boat's motor for a bit and they'll jump into the net), but they're really bony.

You might have some difficulty getting that solution to work with cane toads, but it certainly works for some species.

Zebra mussels are also not great eating, from what I understand. No one wants to eat invasive seastars, except maybe seagulls. A lot of people would shy away from the insectile invaders, and it's real tough to get enough of invasive microfauna to justify the effort.

Tldr it works with some invasives but by no means all. Plus there's the worry that if people find an invasive to be really good, it might encourage them to try to actually promote the invaders for better harvesting or the like.

Japan turns their invasive species of jellyfish into candy.

Fuck you invasive jellies. Japan will eat you. Japan eats all of the ocean.

From what I understand, it's heavily dependent on when and how they're harvested. e.g. they get way more bitter after they flower.

There's also situations where the invasive is entirely edible, but very few people live in the area where they're the biggest problem. Like rabbits in Australia- there aren't enough people living in the middle of the Outback for rabbit stew to be much of a solution.

Apparently it actually would have been legal for me to record my sessions with my abusive ex-therapist without her knowledge. Go figure.

I honestly have no idea if it would have helped anything—and honestly, I don't want to consider the possibility that it wouldn't have—but it's not like it's important now, so that's fine. There's one former burning question answered, though. (And I guess if I ever have need to consider that kind of thing in the future, I'm better informed now.)

Today I learned that musical instruments that are not guitars cost a MASSIVE WAD OF CASH to buy, but a shockingly affordable amount to rent. Although there is a certain degree of expectation that that basically means you'll be paying a rental fee until you just pay off the instrument entirely in like 3 years or whatever.

TIL that in Chile, kefir is also known as yogur de pajaritos, or yogurt of little birds. (I have no idea why, but I'm envisioning sparrows in tiny milk maid hats like this.)
