he has two and one of them left to be a mountain hippy but one was still loyal to him after his death until the Titans used the power of friendship and i'm very worried about her.
(i mean. because i'm worried about her i'm also plotting fic where she is happy and recovering and has friends and possibly adopts a stray cat or dog or mutant chimera. but still.)
...i mean yes but that also loses some of the benefits of an animal companion like 'can't actually tell anyone anything' and 'is an animal, so doesn't have anywhere else to be if you need cuddles from an unjudgemental fuzzball' and 'no concerns about emotional labor' and so on.
a nonsentient shape shifter would be cute though. imagine she picks up an abandoned kitten in a maudlin moment, and the next morning there's a full sized gorilla going through her fridge and if she's ever panicky or hypervigilant, it might automatically adopt a big and tough form to protect her. it doesn't know why friend is scared but it will Protect Friend
Fun fact: the TTGo comic's last issue (in the original run, before it got restarted to go with the TTGo cartoon) was a Worst Fears issues. so, if you're wondering: Raven: Physically transforming into Trigon and being controlled by him Starfire: Being betrayed by the Titans and re-enslaved by the Gordanians Cyborg: The Titans-in-Training being scared of him, being injured badly and Fixit subsequently turning him entirely into a robot Beast Boy: The Doom Patrol essentially disowning him and cutting him out of their family Robin: The other Titans disappearing, having to fight alone, fighting till he's run ragged, failing, and everything in general falling apart.
they're all so horrible. the show itself is so lighthearted, you forget everyone's fucked up backstory. until the show goes and kicks you in the face with it.
So I just started watching this (thanks to this thread, mostly) and wow is Robin different from his Young Justice counterpart. Anyway it's pretty cheesy and silly but I really like it so far. Starfire is adorable and whoever is voice acting Slade is excellent, A+ I am impressed.
It's Ron Perlman! I'm pretty sure his voice acting is part of why he's one of my favorite villains. And yeah, TT Robin is like. A Robin amalgam. The bo staff thing was tim drake's, for one thing?
