Our Father took me aside when I started showing signs of being the afflicted twin. The first rule was that Kas couldn't know. Either we'd break the curse and everything would be fine or it'd kill her but she wouldn't have to deal with it until then. Father and his brother worked together to break it but they couldn't, and it killed our uncle. I think he wanted her to live without knowing that we might fail.
