Something about it doesn't feel real or like it even fucking matters. And this upsets me heavily. I look at Vin and just get annoyed because she could be so much better than this but no. Something is missing here. I wonder if part of it is that the books are not themed around the concept of mental illness like ones which I vastly, heavily prefer the takes on. That's definitely at least part of it because theming means something to me. It is theme, not plot, that ties things together neatly for me.

AND I DO NOT GET THIS.

Vin is mentally ill but this is not a book about Vin being mentally ill and this annoys me.

 

Ok so now on like chapter 34 or some shit. I continue to really like the dynamic between Vin and OreSeur. It's probably my favorite relationship in this one and I like how it's grown over time. ALSO HOLY SHIT THEY HAVE A FUCKING RELIGION THAT WASN'T CRUSHED AND IS STILL ALIVE TO THIS DAY OMFG. But my Sazed levels of giddiness about that aside it's really sweet seeing them come together gradually.

Now I just sit there paranoid that he was the one replaced even though that doesn't make sense given what we know about the whole spy dealio. But I fear this.

Also I continue to be so fucking hype about anything Sazed does. And his talks with Vin are lovely and cute and I adore them. Also it reminds me of like some of my talks with like my girlfriend. Who gets very frustrated with me at times when I get all scholar on her ass. But it is just so hard to turn off at times.

Literally everything is awful. Multiple people are dead. Breeze is crazy. Sazed is faithless. Vin is having a guilt spiral. The god of "twist we saw coming" is on the loose.

And the only one we have left who is hopeful about our chances is the fucking college debate club boy.

At least Marsh is having fun with his new life of beating stakes into people, I guess. Someone's gotta be having fun in this hellish world.

 

On a fun note this level of endless depression has ramped up my interest steadily again. When Aon's interest flags blow up a city and kill five characters she liked.

Yeah, there's a reason I described Mistborn in the first post of this thread as "An escalating series of "it can't POSSIBLY get worse than this, right?" moments." :::PPP Fans sometimes refer to the Sanderson Cascade, when you get towards the end of the story and everything is suddenly happening at once and everyone is dying and it's absolute chaos and somehow it's 3 AM and your eyes are glued to the book, and Mistborn as a trilogy has a particularly severe one.
