I tend not to judge based on appearances. As for the transformation-- I'm not a doctor, but our transformation cog is responsible for that. For us, we have three primary organs rather than the absolute mess of necessary organs most organics have: the spark, the brain module, and the transformation cog. The cog and brain can be removed or even replaced, but the spark cannot.
