Monsters. Sometimes we call them demons, but that's a more general term that includes goblins and others. They're huge creatures that live to destroy. They took over what we now call the Zone, but they regularly spill over and assault villages and cities.

 

Why?

 

Who knows? -shrug- It's not like they want the resources. They destroy those with everything else. But they're not exactly willing to talk to us. Maybe if one did we could understand each other and not need to fight, but that hasn't happened. So for now we defend ourselves, and some of us try to push back the Zone and reclaim what was ours. If we can push their borders away from ours we won't have to worry about them hitting our cities.

 

Sounds pretty stressful.
