Edit: I don't have any flour in the house and the stores are closed so I can't make anything. I have literally everything I need but the flour and the powdered sugar.

I've now skimmed the book reqs, book nostalgia, and some other book thread that we had for ideas, and marked a bunch of them in my saved folder for reference. So many queer protags to consider, so little time.

I don't dream very often, and I don't have any reasons to think of dreaming of a character as a good thing.

My older sister has always been there for me and I appreciate her very much. She's always been my staunchest ally--literally. For as long as I've been dating other girls and being a counterculture queer weirdo, she's been there, supporting, giving advice, and loving. Still, out of fear, I sometimes held things back from her, didn't tell her when relationships changed or I was struggling, because I was so used to silence and censoring myself. I still am. But one day she made me make a very specific promise--just don't get married without me.

Well, I wanted to make good on that promise. I was pretty shamed into at least trying my hardest to share life changes with her, even if it's hard for me. I'm going to marry my girlfriend--we've already privately agreed to it but not done the formal engagement yet for a few reasons. One of them is I was waiting to make it official with my family who, sadly, had to be brought up to speed, since I spent so many years silent. But before even the rest of them, I had to tell my older sister. I want to really start making good on the promise to keep her in the loop, if possible. Running out of time to talk with her before I meet with my parents and have a potentially difficult conversation, I decide to send her a very attention-grabbing text, sure to hook her into a joyful sharing of future plans and well-wishes. I'm nervous, but I go for the throat.
