Yeah, I hear ya. I wouldn't really want to either-- you're great, I'm sure, and anything to help a bro out, but, well. [Wires taps his own badge.] Call me paranoid, but I'm not about hooking up on the first date.

 

I don't know why you didn't get provided with a black room before! Well, I know. But even for like, purely looking at function which I am not advocating for, it's important to be able to take breaks.

 

[He shrugs.] I mean, first off, there ain't room on our shuttle for me to have a quiet room unless we want to try and convert one of the two berthrooms. And second, none of us are even really engineers, so we'd have to find someone who one knew how to do what we want and two we could find a way to pay, because engineers don't usually end up with many people they want to kill that they can't take care of themselves and death is kinda our main export.

We're out in deep space often enough that it's not much of a problem anyway-- if I'm hearing someone unexpected, we probably need the advance warning. 's not like I'm in the middle of Iacon or Altihex anymore.

 

No, I'm talking about like... when you were initially stationed. I don't LIKE Scanner, but it doesn't mean I can't sympathize to the fact that everything shouts in his ear.

 

I was originally built as an infiltration unit. A blackout room would've been way out of place in Altihex; who was I, people would've wondered, that I could afford to modify my living quarters? Slag, who was I that I could afford to own a place to modify instead of living in a barracks with ninety-five percent of the rest of the city? I actually did hear something like that last one just for having an apartment instead of being in the mining industry. And besides, why would the Senate have wanted me to stop listening? We were a limited run of... call us surveillance cameras, we weren't supposed to get breaks, we were supposed to show the bosses that it was worth making more of us.

Aaaaand then most of us either died or went 'Con, but, well, that's what happens when you make a bunch of people with an ability that drives 'em crazy and tell 'em they should be grateful for the opportunity to serve. [He shrugs again, grinning a little. No regrets here!]

 

And here I thought I just didn't wiggle my aft enough.

Eh. I know our side didn't build more, so bar however many the 'Bots made... ten, maybe? In the whole galaxy, you and me included? I can think of a few people who might have actual death records and whatnot if you want to know for certain, but there weren't a whole lot of us to start with and then the war happened.
