    I once saw the most beautiful response to this. NCSoft made a strict rule of "no discussions of things other than City of Heroes" in the City of Heroes forums.

    Whereupon one of the regular posters, possibly a bit of a troll, posted a lovely bit of City of Heroes fanart: Her COH character, in costume, with a little thought bubble: "Gosh, I've been so busy fighting crime in PARAGON CITY (tm), I haven't had time to watch the most recent season of Glee. I wonder what I missed?"

    "Now let's talk about this very topical City of Heroes fanart."

    people don't choose their own icons; they're selected "at random" and periodically changed out of enormous and growing pool of images, out of some convoluted reasoning that the "equality" of no one choosing is a good thing.
