Shitposting Rave OOC Content Controversy

I want to say to everyone that I'm sorry for having the tact of a doorstop and not knowing when to drop stuff. I really could have gone about yesterday much better than I did.

That said I need to drop the argument for my own mental health.

Sorry for metaphorically throwing a Molotov cocktail in here then leaving out the back door, but im really not as equipped to debate this as I thought I would be.



Also. Yeah graphic violence and torture should also be spoilered, in my opinion.
I honestly don't tend to read most OC discussion so I literally haven't seen these discussions of genocide and whatnot. I don't get much out of interacting with OCs because I have no context for anything they're saying, so I avoid them. Same goes for the robots and other fandom I'm not in
I saw the sex discussion the other day and it bothered me =/= sex is the only 18+ thing I care about deliniating boundaries for.


And finally. I have seen multiple minors talk about not feeling comfortable asserting their sexual boundaries with adults on the internet this year. I'm not pulling this concern out of my ass. This is a thing that some minors feel, even if you didn't as a child, and I think it's worth at least attempting to accommodate that

 

I agree with this! I just think part of accommodating minors, especially those who are teenagers, is giving them the space to express themselves more directly, too. I can't magically make someone not uncomfortable if that's ground in really deeply, but I can say that if what I'm doing is making anyone uncomfortable, they can talk to me, privately or publically, and if they are a minor I will take their concerns very seriously and if they are not a minor I will still take their concerns seriously but don't feel the same obligation.

 

I'm going to put my name in the about me sections for all of my subs so if anyone is made uncomfortable they can message me directly about it.

 

I am unable to do that as I have weird privacy issues but if something comes up just... ya know.... use this thread? Which was originally made for this kind of stuff?

It's also a thing I hate about the whole kinksona party thing, but at least that's appropriately contained.

 

I mean frankly I'd prefer issues with my characters put in here but at least this way people can ping me directly rather than pinging the character. I never log in to character subs so I never see that shit.

edit: Realized this might come off as snide, sorry. I'm trying to mentally compile a list of things that should be spoiled and/or cut off-- obviously anything sexual that was already heading to fade-to-black should remain off-screen, while gifs, discussion of genitals, graphic depictions of torture, and graphic depictions of abuse should be spoiled if I'm reading this right?

 

I'm not saying that isn't. I have experienced that, despite the fact that I had more sex when I was 16 than I do now.

BUT. I don't know how long you've been here. I don't know if you know what the dynamics here are. You're talking about "some teenagers" and your hypothetical teenage self.

I am pissed off that you made me sound like the bad guy for asking this particular teenager to tell me what their boundaries are because of the content this particular teenager posts, and even more pissed off that you didn't say you were the one who had trouble with the content and used this particular kid (of all people) to hide behind, because that shit's happened to me before in various RPs on LJ and elsewhere.

 

...The kinksona party is kind of different. I have no arguments with anything in there and I'm not entirely certain how it's relevant, I'm sorry.

 

I think Mara is an interesting edge case and one of many examples of why I wish I hadn't brought this up because I don't have all the answers

Personally I would lean towards Mara is not inherently 18+, for reasons I don't want to go into bc dogpiling may occur if I try. But yeah, edge case, also great example of me just being a person with a concern without a foolproof plan for implementation

 

Yeah, that's why I said it was pointless. But I guess it's an example of the same thing, especially Ipuntya's first 'sona, and it's appropriately contained in a properly-spoilered thread in Bottom Serket. IDK. I'm tired.

 

i don't think every discussion of genitalia needs to be moved or spoilered, just when it becomes too graphic

i definitely intended that part to be more in the vein of cartoonish violence, but looking back i can see why it didn't come across that way, and i apologize for that.

i do not consider it 18+, however. it was graphic enough to have belonged behind a cut, but i can't see how it would be 18+

 

For the record, I agree with her that this stuff should be at least under spoilers, but that includes her own stuff too, IMO.

 

I don't think you need to worry about dogpiling but I sure as hell would like to take you to argument island right now. I'm fine with you not being okay with that but I am so very very very not okay with your post pointing out my OOC post in here as being a sign that people don't care about minors that I would really like an apology someday.

It should be noted, I do not mind Mara even if i don´t play with them. They can exist in the rave if they want to. But declaring mara fine but talking about cat dicks not is a double standard.

 

I would really like some clear-cut reasons why the cat dick discussion was unacceptably 18+ but the HONK mech wasn't, because then maybe I can know what I can and cannot say?
