People had been really hyped for that, though I remain slightly disappointed that the very vaguely humanoid silhouette in the cocoon wasn't accurate. Pew pew Omega. Also Lyse :(... explains everything about the first Stormblood trailer, though. Kinda glad but also vaguely disappointed that we didn't get the hours long cutscenes like we got in 2.5. Oh well. Also I see what you did with listing Haurchefant's name on it's own, dev team. I'm torn between 'that's cute' and 'that's dumb'. Maybe it's cute-dumb? Also is it just me or did they miss out on listing a bunch of characters that had voice actors? I'm pretty sure they only listed the one person (for the Eng version) for Yugiri and didn't mention Sian Blake at all, even though I'm pretty sure she voiced her in early HW before she was murdered. Is that normal? Seems weird. I also don't remember seeing Ysaele listed at all. Also I still hate Gosetsu but holy shit. Nero is such a douchebag and I love him. Also if him and Cid aren't having hatesex like... all the time... I will be very fucking surprised. They bicker like bitter exes, it seems.
I've yet to get on today but for those who were interested in trying out the game the Free trial had its two week limit removed! Level cap is 35 I think, but now there's no time limit. I'm not sure what that means for people who unsub/let sub run out. Do they get temporarily synced down to level 35 or still no access until they resub? Unlimited time only applies to "trial accounts" and once you sub it switches over? (Edit: I just realized how evil it is to cap at 35...they put you right at a big MSQ cliffhanger, don't they...)

oh yeah i finally got off my butt and did Zurvan and finished the Warring Triad story. Spoiler: thoughts I liked how they answered some questions that were brought up in the whole Crystal Tower thing + Void Ark. We knew bits and pieces about the Void but not enough of the bigger picture. I know the lore book had a blurb about Cuchulainn and how he used to be a Warrior of Light that used White Auracite and was consumed by it. The way people were talking about Unukalhai i thought he'd be hideous under the mask or something, but honestly he looked like a babby version of Luneth from FF3 DS....i wonder if that was intentional. Anyway, he's my New Son (TM). I know Elidibus's long game is balance, i.e. the reunion of Hydaelyn and Zodiark, but I wonder if there's more to it. He seems like the only one of the Ascians that really seems understand the bigger picture, whereas the others just seem to have fun being dicks. Not saying he's a GOOD guy since the Rejoinings involve destroying/killing/erasing worlds full of people, ofc. I wonder if they're going to tie this into MSQ and make the Warring Triad required to proceed like they did with the ARR Hard Mode primals.

I have genuinely never been more insulted in my life. Running Baelsar's Wall with someone only doing 700-800 dps (I didn't even know that was possible with the sort of gear you need to queue for that instance. Minimum I've seen before this has been 1200ish?) and a tank that isn't holding aggro properly, I'm trying to do my part by blowing tank cds to pull off the healer and just generally being great, but we get to the end and I got no commendations. The world is cruel to DPS :((((
Having just passed that point today, YEP. What an incredibly devious and brilliant thing to do! I try to pay attention to DPSes doing well because I know y'all aren't given as much love as the tanks and healers when you do well, and that's unfair. Especially when you're having to do some of the tank's job for them! Newbie salt: yesterday and today I went through Haukke Manor, Brayflox's Longstop, and Halatali. Had an impatient tank on all of them; the second was a complete shitshow until the tank slowed the hell down and explained things to us noobs, and I still healed like crap because I'm struggling to manage WHM's mana pool and notice debuffs in a timely manner. I'm not really surprised I didn't get any commendations there. The other two I did pretty well, I just messed up figuring out where to go because I guess the 'there's one or more players new to the group' didn't ring any bells to anyone. Apparently delaying everyone for maybe a minute was enough to cancel out me keeping them healed, as I still didn't get any commendations, and in the Manor I got a snotty comment from one of the DPSes when I didn't realize everyone was using Return to get out of the basement. Then today I go into Duty Finder for Titan and the other dudes in the group are already rushing him the moment I drop out of cutscene, before I even have a chance to put up Protect. "Oh, here we fucking go again," I think to myself, and struggle to keep up with their shenanigans because they're just plowing through without trying particularly hard to avoid non-instadeath mechanics. We get toward the end and I get encased, and the moment one of the DPSes free me I get caught in shockwave and die. So I'm like oh shit but they manage to bust Titan's head before they all die; I consider apologizing for dying, but then I'm like, why? I didn't even have time to move, that wasn't my fault, and considering their impatience made me scramble the whole battle they can just deal. I'm watching the cutscene and not worrying about it. I get out of the cutscene and... find out I got two commendations. ??? idk if they were from pity or if they had the good grace to realize how hard they'd made it for me by barely waiting for me to get out of the cutscene, but I'll take it.
Yeah, a lot of people are. Very impatient these days and it makes me :/. You still meet some very nice people in DF but the speedrunning mentality is prevalent and tiring. It seems to have started around the time people figured out they could pull 3-4 groups of mobs at once in level 60 dungeons, but they forget that level sync in lower content is a thing. http://angry-healers.tumblr.com/ this blog may help you to know you're not alone at least. :p If/when you do make it to level 50, definitely bring friends for the last 2 story dungeons or put up a Party Finder that says you'll be watching cutscenes. People just rush thru it in DF and it's a huge shame because it's more fun to get the whole experience. But SE seems to have learned from that and has stopped putting long cutscenes in the middle of instances... (Uncharitably I blame the WoW exodus for the rise in jerks lately :/)
One of my FC pals also told me this, and I'll be making sure to take the advice. If macros are a thing, I'm going to make one that I can press the moment I drop out of a cutscene that informs everyone that I'm new to the dungeon so I don't know all of the mechanics, please be patient, because if I have to take the time to type it all out I'm never going to have a chance to say it!
If you hit P and then the XIV button under Main Commands (on PC, idk about PS4) you can access your macros there! There's a bunch of guides floating around online if you just google FFXIV macros.
Frankly, after playing a tank for awhile, I'm noticing commendations are really damn random (you're still going to get more than a DPS, though). I've done heaps of instances where I've played like shit and still managed to get all 3 comms, while others I've been fucking incredible in have resulted in zero. I suspect a lot of people use them completely randomly, unless you really piss off everyone in the group by being a jerk.
I think people tend to gravitate towards comming the healer or tank by default unless they fuck up real bad. So sometimes it's just luck which role people pick. I've noticed healers get a little more than tanks in like, 8 man content, but. I try to comm DPS if I notice them using support skills at least. Like bards who actually play Foes or SMN that help with rezzing. Otherwise they get spite comms if the tank/healer are just really bad.
sometimes im the only one in DS rezzing anyone and still 0 comms. idk, im salty but not THAT salty because when i tank i get all the comms. makes up for it.
Also, fuck bosses that have mechanics that by definition makes them not use the threat table. Every time I've run Sunken Temple as a WAR has been a land of no comms because everyone thinks I'm incompetent at the second boss, guh. No, you don't need to say aggro!, my dude! I'm still the primary target, he just bashes other people for about 5-10 seconds after reforming. Bluhhhh.
That boss is just friendly ok. He wants friends. (and people should be able to tell when it's ignoring aggro by looking at their own enemy list and seeing that it's not red...but i guess that's expecting too much.)
Frustrating instance all around. Fuck the bees, wespes, annoying bosses and stupid giant cube faces. I wish you could remove certain instances from the roulette, tbh. Only one I would be more inclined to remove is Aurum Vale, and that's just because I fucking hate morbols in general.
