That doesn't sound too fantastic, nope.

Also I don't remember getting that response? I wonder if it depends on what you say. Or is it just that not romancing him means he's not so infuriating? Tbh at this point, only Cullen is giving me any sort of "yay" feelings about impending playthroughs as far as het lady options go.

Oh damn, yeah! Alistair should totally say something, even if just a "What the hell, if you were there why didn't you HELP US???" It's annoying Bioware didn't give him even a throwaway line about it.

I'm sorry but for some reason I cannot process what you're talking about. What response are you meaning?

This. Though I will admit that the lines that are said are fucking hilarious.

Ali: I hear you have a Warden with you?
    Blackwall: Yes, I'm Warden Blackwall
Ali: Oh, Blackwall! Duncan--my mentor--told me about you
Blackwall: Ah, Yes, Duncan. *awkward pause while Blackwall sweats* Good man.

Oh, I meant the "Like the whole, You wouldn't have let them kill the dog! thing."

Sorry for being unclear. Like, I don't recall getting that line when I talked to him in my playthrough.

@hoarmurath thanks for the clarification. Yeah, it might have been just because of the dialog choices I made. I don't really talk to him much after my first playthrough.

*rewatches DLC trailer* I'm so excited to go back to the Deep Roads! Aw yeah, Brood mother in Frostbite. I hope we encounter the prison of one of the Old Gods.

I got that response as well, so it does seem to be dialogue choice dependent.

I'm super excited to revisit the Deep Roads, too, even though it was one of my least favorite places in Origins (probably because it was bracketed by Orzammar politics, ugh). It looks SO COOL. I'd love if we got to visit an Old God prison. And did you notice the dudes in elaborate armor?! I'm pretty sure we're going to get to meet Kal-Sharok dwarves finally!

So, an unforeseen-but-in-retrospect-not-surprising result of siding with the templars: after I finally did another major storyline quest after I got to Skyhold, I got the conversation with Dorian where he talks about his friend Felix. In the mage side he talks about the speech Felix gave before he died, but in the templar side he says he had people looking for Felix but Redcliffe is empty with no trace of him, as if Felix never existed, and the Venatori must have murdered him.

I know he didn't have long to live either way, but :'(

Nooooo. That is so sad! Felix needs more love, he's a great character and I like him pale with Dorian. I know the writers probably won't get this detailed with the differences, but it seems like Felix being absent and not getting to make his speech in Tevinter would lose the Inquisition a lot of support, and I'd want to see the consequences.

@Kittenly if I notice anything different that seems related to Felix not making that speech, I'll post about it. It really does seem like it should have some effect.

In other news, Lamia has managed to make Solas angry with her by not kicking the Grey Wardens out of Orlais. DAMN but his voice gets biting when the Inquisitor is on bad terms with him! :'D

SPOILERS about hugging the short stud with the gun show:

When you fall into the Fade and deal with Corypheus' archdemon fuck, you have the option of leaving Hawke behind instead of whatever Warden came with you. If you do leave Hawke behind, they of course are lost, and Varric doesn't take the news well. After everyone goes back home, you find him in his usual spot, and he's grieved and sorrowful over the loss of his best friend. While talking, he kinda chokes up, and you get the option to just hug him.

Plant your giant head against my elf boobs, Varric. I'm here for you.

I did once. God help me, I did.

You come out of the Fade and Varric is so happy to see you, but then he looks around. "Where's Hawke?" No one says anything and the dread grows. He looks up at the Inquisitor, face falling. "...where's Hawke?" he asks again, rough and sad and his voice acting is SO prime and I am so sorry, baby. Then he leaves ahead of the group.

BABY COME BACK! YOU CAN BLAME IT ALLLL ON MEEEEE

... Is it bad that I liked the pathos and tragedy of all so much that I can't not do it now? >_> (except for maybe the import with my first Hawke, who romanced Fenris, who I can't do that to.)

Also, the last time I did that I didn't get the hug option - not sure if it was because Varric didn't come along, or because he and Lamia aren't bros yet.

Yeah, you might need a high relationship score.

And don't get me wrong, I LOVED the pathos and a vulnerable, emotional Varric just made me want him more. It just...it hurt so bad, dude. It hurt so good.

Aah, I thought that might be it. He still told a story, though--

It's the same basic story no matter what - Gamlen did something stupid, owes money to the wrong people, those people go after Hawke - but what Hawke does depends on their personality. The import with a diplomatic Hawke, she invited them in for tea. Lamia's import with an aggressive Hawke, Hawke, Aveline, and Varric were waiting at the door for the thugs, who took one look at them and ran away. XD

Also, I couldn't not leave that Hawke in the Fade, as Loghain is the warden in Lamia's playthrough and he doesn't get to die heroically. ATONE FOREVER, ASSHOLE.

And YES, that's it. It hurts so good.

OH YEAH since I'm clearly going to be playing the hell out of this DLC when it's finished downloading, I'll be happy to give both spoiler-free and spoileriffic rundowns if anyone likes. Not sure which character I'm going to do it on first - I've got Embriel (Lavellan, mage, knight enchanter) and Lamia (Cadash, rogue, assassin archer) to Skyhold. Embriel's the one who's taking Varric since Lamia will already have two archers in her party (herself and Sera).

So I'm of the opinion Hawke was /meant/ to be the one to stay in the Fade. It's because of a line from DA2 when you've summoned Flemeth on the mountain. She says, "We stand upon the precipice of change. The world fears the inevitable plummet into the abyss. Watch for that moment...and when it comes, do not hesitate to leap. It is only when you fall that you learn whether you can fly."

The quest you can lose Hawke in is called "Here Lies the Abyss," so I think that moment in DA2 was Flemeth telling Hawke to stay when the time comes. I'm pretty sure we haven't seen the last of Hawke.

So far, some annoying news: the DLC is iffy about mods (I had to re-merge my patch without any mods in to get it to load), although the mod makers should be able to fix that in time. More annoying is that there's a part of a quest that tends to crash for PC users (as in the silent crash to desktop where DAI just closes). There may be a workaround through some convoluted 'travel back to skyhold, travel back to area' means, but it's pretty ridiculous that it happens at all.

(edit) Got past it with a really dumb workaround - deleting the merged patch and then editing the package.mft file in the regular patch folder to make the version number one more than it was (for me, from 10 to 11). Why on earth...

There are a couple of neat looking schematics right off the bat, a crate full of crafting loot, and a table to buy top tier crafting materials from. Founda few Bianca schematics so far, too.
