Oh, also- try to leave the skin clean where you're affixing the gem, you can paint around it and wipe off any that gets on the gem with a q-tip if necessary.

I need to fix my kanaya horns within two weeks. they are made of expanding foam, covered in a layer of clay. how do i attach them to a wig/headband? if i try to screw them onto a headband, i need a drill and idk if we still have one or not.

 

I use hot glue to attach horns, but mine are made of floral foam, so...

 

It's a few days until the con and things are going Not Good. I have snaps attached to the horns, but they lean way to the side. I have them put through the wig as close to the center as I can, but the central... mesh part means I can't get them closer.

Is there a way to hide a headband while wearing a wig?

 

Not sure about how to hide one, but if you use a black headband it shouldn't show much?

 

i finally got my bodysuit and it's time to a) shrink it so it fits a bit better around the snap bits b) figure out how the FUCK im going to create and attach giant golden shoulderpads to it

 

so....so the paint i got for my bodysuit works, i got my pretty pretty wig in (this one!) and my shoes come in this saturday (these!!) and oh god AX is rapidly approaching and i am TERRIFIED

 

How do I make a robot arm?

 

that depends!! theres a few different ways of going about it. the most common are:
-shiny armsock with detailing on it
-flat out body paint
-craft foam

body paint and armsock are 2d and more fragile while craft foam is 3d and fairly sturdy, but its stiffer and imo trickier to make

 

I feel like either "arm sock with stuff glued to it" or craft foam is the correct option.

 

@winterykite did their vriska robot arm with cardboard and aluminum foil and some paint which turned out pretty fucking neat

eta: and an armsock underneath i forgot to say. Pretty sure the cardboard bits are attached with uh either snaps or velcro?

 

velcro glued on with superglue.
but yeah, cardboard with tinfoil glued on, then i brushed some black paint on and SEALED THAT SHIT because it scrapes off if you look at it wrong if it isn't sealed. Just run-of-the-mill clear varnish.


the studs are those thingies you can get in a 100-pack in every office supply store, dunno what they're called.

ETA: the armsock is made from a black stocking. put it on inside out, put pins between the fingers, sewed around that, separated the fingers, sealed the seams with clear nail polish, and let it dry.

I mean from what I can tell it's a poofy balloon skirt a dress open at the front to reveal it without sleeves and then a Shrug/bolero type thing that has the sleeves and collar? maybe? So you could seperate those pieces out and draft patterns or something lmao
