How does one go about determining pricing for handmade product? I'm starting up an Etsy for my hemp/leather/glass bead jewelry stuff. Without schmancy charm stuff it's fairly inexpensive material wise (bless bulk online buying, oh my stars I am never using craft stores for base material ever again) so it's mostly labor. 'm kinda thinking "Min. wage/hour work + ~$3 materials + ~$3-5 profit?"

    Samples (w/ charms)

That one sold on consignment for like, $15 and $20ea (fuck I forgot how bad the ends look ughhh note to self find better clasps) so I netted about $10 & $15 but online sales are different? Suggestions?

Edit: Discovered the magic of sliding lock clasps with loops. Everything is awesome.

If I were you I would charge more than minimum wage for your work. It's definitely worth it :)

In South Carolina, US. I will absolutely do commissioned work for y'all. I can post some more samples when I get to a real computer.

Generally, commissioned stuff is pattern + color + charm theme. Materials are faux suede cord, hemp twine and/or satin "rat tail" cord.

Themes can be weird. My auspie wanted "steampunk rebel author", and others were "sailor's wife" and "Celtic love song"

I've taken up knitting again :) My mum brought me the scarf I was still working on from their house. I also bought new yarn, and I'm still debating what I want to make with it, seeing as how I am not really a knitter :P

kk so I just gotta account for customs and such like when ordering that's a thing. (*shakes fist angrily at beaurocracy*)
I wonder if you can find alchemy symbols as charms? got a mighty need for jewelry for my LARP-char, Resch.

I can check the local witchy shop, they might have something. I also have teeny glass bottles on the way if alchemy = potions. And a source of teeny bones.

I was thinking like these symbols, which I plan to use as shorthands in my documents. It's kind of unusual symbol pool because not many people actually know about hermetic alchemy and magnum opus codes *shrug* (They look nicely hipstery lol)
bottles and teeny bones sound really badass too *u*

That's a rattail "blank", the hemp ones usually get beads woven in. This is one I'm having trouble pricing. It's a very small amount of material, and I can crank out one in like, one Netflix episode. Doesn't seem worth selling for much but suggestions are like, $8-10? Maybe I'll do something like, $8-10 alone OR it's a freebie if you spend $X?

These are easy to price. They're labor intensive and finicky. Stars help me if I fuck up the orientation of a knot twelve rows back and have to undo the whole blasted thing.

Should I move this to another thread? I know this is s'posed to be showing off your projects, not necessarily How To Sell 101.

does anyone want these fused glass studs for like five bucks? I can put earring backs on them if you want, I just don't know what to do with them and I'm curious if anyone ELSE likes them

    YOOOOO
Dude. DUDE. I forgot we had a glassworker. Is there any way you can punch holes in your extra scrap bits or things that size? I will buy those by the gross and use them in my hemp stuff. Seriously. All of them. I love fused glass. *grabby hands*

Like, if you can punch them when they're soft.

we have a bunch of glass folks! I think.. @Starcrossedsky ?

I haven't worked out a way to put holes in things yet - I can't handle it when it's hot, and I have a diamond drill bit but it's huuuge and would obliterate most of the pieces I have. I do have kiln paper but not enough :<
