OKAY i havent done a proper set of recommendations in MONTHS this is unacceptable and i am here to fix that. i'm going to try not to recommend anything already in this thread, but im not making any promises

Our Fair City: set in presumably post-apocalyptic Hartford. one of my top five favorite podcasts right now. i just. i love it so much. please listen to it.
Freed: very queer. i think the term for this kind of show is soft apocalypse...like, the world ended, sure, but everything here is fairly calm so let's just be nice and try to rebuild things...of course this doesn't always go well, but that's the spirit of the show. the main character is such a sweetheart, i love her.
SABLE: a horror podcast. i'm not really caught up yet, and it's p intense at parts, but it's got some really cool characters and i love them.
The Infinite Now: broadcasts sent out to time agents stationed in the field etc etc...i think the term i'm looking for is theoretical fiction but don't quote me on that. the episodes aren't too long and aren't usually too unsettling.
Whatever Happened to Pizza at McDonald's?: some guy tries to find out what happened to pizza at mcdonalds. short episodes, nice for breaks in between episodes of more intense podcasts.
The Mr. Maxwell and Phineas Show: some guy keeps fucking trying to summon lovecraftian monsters. a crow makes fun of him. fun times.

I've been listening pretty exclusively to US politics podcasts atm. Current favourites include:
    • Abe Lincoln's Top Hat (done by Marcus Parks and Ben Kissel of Last Podcast fame)
    • Slate's Trumpcast
    • On The Media
Also, my friend and I are planning to record our pilot episode this Friday! Her boyfriend has been putting together some theme music for us and I am so psyched to hear it. The show will be called Best Fiends. Only thing I'm not looking forward to is having to hear my own weird voice going on at length >.<

Time for an updated podcast list since I picked up a bunch of new ones.
Dark tome: teen girl and old man have a book that literally brings them into stories.

Darkest night: a man and a woman working in a lab experiment view other people's memories just before their death. Lots of body horror in this one.

Dumb people town: 3 men read news stories about people doing ridiculous things or having bad things happen to them.

Lake clarity: this one is really new with only 1 episode. 5 teens at a summer camp for their last year find a mystery.

Spines: woman wakes up in the middle of some kind of ritual with no memories. Body horror and humanoid abominations in this one.

Within the trenches: a former 9-1-1 operator talks about the job. Sometimes he plays 9-1-1 calls which may be disturbing.

The Alexandria archives: Alexandria university radio show taking place in lovecraft county. More fun with humanoid abominations, and non human abominations. Some body horror.

The blood crow stories: first season is about a college students thesis about a psychiatrist and his patients on the ship the s.s utopia. The story is covered mostly through tape recordings by some of the people on the ship. Small amount of body horror.

Drywater: 2 men find a crashed rocket near their hometown and turn it into a radio station. Reminds me a little of fallout. The voice acting could use some work but it's good otherwise.

Thank you for your efforts and work!
I've been listening to Limetown all day (and love it), and I wanted to note that the link to Limetown - Answers leads to a 404, same with the link in the Wiki to that part. Thankfully it's spoken clearly, so I can understand it. (I only sometimes have issues processing spoken words)

Lia: Hello, this is Lia Haddock. With me is my producer Mark Green.
    Mark: Hello.
    Lia: Let's... talk through this.
    Mark: Ok.
Lia: You got the first email when?
Mark: We got it five days ago, to the General Contact address on our website. The subject header was "ANSWERS". In all-caps, "ANSWERS", and the body simply read: "MDC comma NDC", and attached was an encrypted file we didn't know what to do with, and a photo.
Lia: Of Oscar Totem, in Limetown.
Mark: In a party hat. Holding a wine bottle outside the doors of the research facility. Yeah.
Lia: It's one we hadn't seen before.
Mark: Exactly! So suddenly, this was very important to understand.
Lia: That's when Dan [unintelligible to me, 0:40].
Mark: Right. Dan is the friend of one of our interns who, well, he knows about encryption.
    Lia: Right.
Mark: And after several hours of stuff I don't understand, Dan was able to open the file. It was an audio clip.

Female Voice [Distorted, sounds like a scratchy recording of a reading software. 0:55]: This is for Lia Haddock. I have all answers about Limetown. Please leave or respond.

Mark: So we did, immediately. Who is this? How do we make this happen?
    Lia: And the reply was:

Female Voice: Lia, are these answers the most important thing to you?

    Mark: To which you responded:
Lia: Yes. But also, how do we know this is real?
Mark: Which I regret you asking.

Female Voice: Why is the light flashing? [1:22]
Male Voice: I don't know, I'm trying to turn it off.
Female Voice: They're going to see us!
Male Voice: I'm working on it! Does, does the phone work?
Female Voice: [Unintelligible, 1:30] they'll come from?
Male Voice: That doesn't matter right now. Does. the phone. work?
Female Voice: (dialing sounds) Oh thank God. (more dialing sounds)
    (static)
    Male Voice: Shit! Uh...
Female Voice: Henrick, [unintelligible, 1:41] have to cut it off now! Cut it off! I--
    Male Voice: I know!
    (sound of banging)
Female Voice: Can you hear me? We need emergency services in Limetown! Ambulances, firemen, police, send the whole [BEEP]ing army! (Heavy breathing)
    (sound of banging)
Female Voice: Cut it off! Cut it off!
    Male Voice: Oh no.
    (sound of shuffling)
    (static)

Lia: The next correspondence we received was this series of conditions for interview with the person sending us these messages. Most notably among these conditions, is that we are to broadcast these conversations live. Something that management here at APR has reluctantly agreed to, cause of the, uhm, nature, of the evidence being given to us. I'm not allowed to say much more beyond that at this time. You will, I hope, hear that conversation Monday.

ETA: Episode 6 link leads to a blank as well.

Erica occasionally vaguely like a person

Lia: That's when Dan [unintelligible to me, 0:40]. "when Dan was brought in", i think
[Unintelligible, 1:30] they'll come from? - I think that's "Where the hell did they all come from"?
[unintelligible, 1:41] have to cut it off now! - for that one all I hear is like idk "through the outside door" so yeah I have no idea sorry

i meant the masterlist as a whole, so we dont clog up this thread.

i took a few minutes to save copies of the existing limetown transcripts, so if any more links break let me know and i'll replace them with my backups. i'll do the same for other shows at some point but i haven't gotten around to it yet.

    More recs!

Fall of the House of Sunshine: it's a musical, it's about....dentists? maybe? clowns? puppets? bigfoot???? i don't fucking know but it's brilliant and i love it.
The Strange Case of Starship Iris: space! a mystery in space! with cool alien linguistics! it's been climbing my list of favorite podcasts with every new episode.
Mabel: it's like....a mix between alice isn't dead and house of leaves? i binged all of it in like a day and it was worth it.
OAKPODCAST: a spy finds herself in the middle of nowhere and is leaving messages for her team.
The Girl Who Set Out: two part anti-capitalist fairytale.
The Unexplainable Disappearance of Mars Patel: it's meant for kids; I would put it in the same category as ASOUE or the secret series or the mysterious benedict society, if you know what i mean? it's very well done and frankly i hope it sets the standard for any children's podcasts that follow.

also pinging @Marimo cause i dont know if they know this thread exists

Thanks @Bel Capricorn for directing me to this thread! I'm hopeless at looking things up on the forum so had no idea this was here.

Podcasts are one of my things and I love seeing other people getting excited about them too. So, since I'm here, have some recs for some podcasts that I didn't see already mentioned in this thread:

Strange N Unusual podcast: The main story is about Alice and her family's vampire, Asmodeus, as they fight monsters. Asmodeus is the worst but is bound to the family so has to help and protect them and Alice hates him but has to work with him as his supernatural skills come in handy, so it's a lot of fun. Also the narrator is the best.
The Box podcast: Addison finds a box of short stories about operatives who fight supernatural beings. The style reminds me of Limetown.
Audio Dime museum - Carnivale: going through a collection of objects and telling stories around them. Idk but the narrator has the loveliest voice so I could just listen to it forever
The Blood Crow Stories: A horror podcast. It's a student's thesis project with recordings made by people on a ship called the SS Utopia where there's something sinister lurking. The characters are really well done.

I suck at descriptions but I swear these are good no matter how dull I make them sound. Also, please listen to Fall of the House of Sunshine because I want more people to be delighted and confused with.

Guys! My bff and I just recorded our pilot episode. Any and all feedback, good or bad is utterly welcomed.

(As a note: I am 'Hocus' and my bff is 'Cass' [Edit] Also note that I sound far more well-spoken in this recording than I do in real life. It's weird listening back to it. Irl I sound like a chimney sweep)

Tw: This episode deals with hording behaviours, explicit descriptions of death, and talk of people doing weird things with corpses (not sexual). Subject matters are the Collyer Brothers and Anatoly Moskvin.

@strictly quadrilateral can you please see if there are transcripts for the doctor who big finish audio dramas and add them to your list if they exist?

i don't know if audio dramas count as podcasts and this would probably be a super big task since there are lots of them but i figured i might as well make the request.
