    Xitaqa Secretly awesome

Since there are folks who are distressed when present reality fails to match their memory, and they can't be sure if things changed or if their memory is wrong, would it be feasible to make some kind of change log members can check?

I'm thinking mostly if mods move or delete a thread, just a post in a TSM sticky that says so. Maybe other members would also post there if they change the name of a thread or something, but I'm thinking mostly of the large scale changes that mods might need to enact.

Does that seem feasible and desirable?

Long story short: I don't think we'll ever be able to do it reliably, but there's a change log in the software we can check, I believe.

I just noticed the new Howling Into The Void subforum, can I post a test thread in there?

Sure, go for it. It seems to work.

I'm not sure if it's been discussed before or not, but are there any functions for user-side subaccount deletion?

No. In fact, there's no functions for deletion of accounts, at all, ever, because one time I thought "huh, I wonder what happens" and the answer involved having to hand-write SQL.

In general, the site does not admit deletion. We'll ban people who ask to be banned, but deleting things makes for inconsistent reality.

On a similar note, I get confused when moderated posts are inserted into the backlog of a thread based on when they were posted rather than when they were approved. Is there a reason why it works like that? Is there a reason it can't be changed to simply show up as a more recent post so you're not constantly backreading threads to find out what's changed?

As I understand it, and I really don't remember for sure, I'm just going off fragmented memory of things: when posts are made to the forum they're made. If they're hidden under moderation, they're still *there*, just invisible. Likewise, things that are deleted are still there, just hidden. It would take an extra kind of doohickery to change the times they're posted at.

Pretty much, yes: The post's time is the time it's submitted, and there's no way to edit post times. Also, the thread's got a list of "all posts in order", and a post is in a fixed position in that list whether or not it's being shown.

  10. Ok the Like variety pack is okay I guess but the interface is a pain in the ass on mobile cause they're so small. I have to zoom in to click reliably. Am request bigger font size.

yup, apparently they were set pretty small, away the font size setting so now it can be whatever size it defaults to.

my ratings alerts are completely erratic. I'd say I get notifications 70% of the time when someone rates one of my posts? but then again, I'm not seeing all of those ratings. I can't figure out what, if anything, determines whether I get an alert. my notifications for watched threads are also terrible, i.e., prone to disappearing if I haven't looked at the thread for a couple of days. halp :(

I've been getting random notifications for things that were posted a while ago in threads.

That's the moderation queue! Seebs and I's posts have to be manually approved by a mod but still show up with the timestamp they were posted at.

I meant stuff that had already been visible, not people on moderation queue. So, posts that had already been in the thread for a while, 3 or 4 pages back, by random people.

Maybe people were catching up in the thread? I've been getting random likes from waaaay back in the Out Of Context Quotes thread, from the same one or two people, who are presumably reading through old posts there.

maybe? But it wasn't bringing me to my posts - it was to other posts.
