How the hell are people coming up with these stupid fruit nicknames, and why are they so confusing? All this and more can be discussed here! Also I feel like a lot of cool Napstablook ideas in general got kind of forgotten. like, the thing with Underfell Mettaton also having Napstablook fused in, thus the four arms, and genocide Napstablook avenging Mettaton ghoooooostsssssssssss
I had an au idea the other day where sans and papyrus were actually ghost monsters as well and they had just possessed prop skeletons from the dump which was why they didnt really look closely anatomically human. Storyshift is one of my faves because small toriel is Excellent
i think my favourites are underfell, ink, swapfell and error. underfell is the one out of the main three/four aus that feels the closest to canon, and i like the characterizations in it. and how, despite being the Dark Edgy au, an important part of it is the theme of redemption and the idea that people aren't inherently evil and don't have to be evil forever. with ink and error, i like that they are basically sorta gods having a cosmic battle over the multiverse, one for creation and one for destruction. (and they kiss and make baby sanses too!) and it has meaning to me 'cause of my anxiety and how that gets in the way of creating things for me, and how it feels nice that there's an active force in the undertale multiverse promoting creation. and it feels like those two sanses wouldn't be complete without the other, even though they weren't originally created to be counterparts. swapfell is just... fascinating. it's hard to explain what it is i'm so fond of about it but i just am. my feelings about underswap are... complicated. like, i think underswap sans is super cute and i like several other things about the au, but it also just makes barely any sense when i try to examine it closely as an alternate undertale timeline instead of Separate Established Characters. like, temmie swapped with flowey, for example - that makes absolutely no sense! that's why he has four arms! i was wondering about that! it always seemed so EXtra to me, like metatton was aiming to just be Super Scary.
it's been so long since I've seen that interpretation, though, I hope I'm not remembering it wrong. kind of disappointing that it's faded out, since the idea of two souls in one body, pulling it in contradictory directions, was pretty cool. and it cemented Alphys as being more morally corrupt (and harder for Frisk to redeem), to have experimented on them like that edit: and also the interpretation of fell Mettaton being...not very good at show business in comparison to classic Mettaton, which could be a product of Napstablook either having stage fright or intentionally sabotaging them to get away from the cameras and the stage
i'm not entirely sure if it has faded out, since i don't think i have looked at much underfell metatton stuff. some, yeah, but not a lot of it. my attention tends to be focused mostly on the skeletons, flowey, asriel and chara, i think.
I mean, it's possible it's still out there, just. how can you find it past all this sans I wonder how the underfell game is going to handle it, though I haven't been keeping up much with it. (...other than to be pleased and confused that Papyrus is rapidly accruing cats. are they sentient monsters? did surface cats make it down somehow? how are they going to get white cat fur off black clothes??)
I've actually been involved in brainstorming an Underswap that makes sense in the main Undertale thread, in which the point of divergence was the Dreemurr adults watching the Dreemurr children's home videos after the kids died. Asgore did not take it well.
I really love zarlas au stuff, especially the handplates au which makes me very sad. Ive been enjoying the mommacq comic a LOT, i keep up with it pretty frequently. Something about geno, error, and fresh (all aus i love) as their own people growing up as normally as possible is just really nice
Its an au where the creators are the parents or guardians of their creations! Error has pixlexia and severe social anxiety, fresh is emotionless/cant connect or understand peoples emotions, and geno is a critically ill kid. There are other au characters as well with their own creators but it focuses on cq's mostly, heres page one.
who wants to try to make AUs centered around characters that aren't the skelebros? Toriel-focused AUs or something?
this is an undertale au fic series i like centered around chara and asriel, and it is not very sansy. like, sans' there but he's not very important to it.
