Im imagining a universe where everyone is generally 3edgy5me and media is all like underfell and people make softy aus all the time. Hot topic is a major retailer like jcpennys or macys instead of a mall chain, and leather and spikes are always in fashion.
on the topic of Underfell: what if underfell!frisk was a kleptomanic? everyone else is either edgy or otherwise has their bad sides exaggerated, except for flowey, so...why not include frisk in that and have them have a tendency to steal anything not nailed down? frisk modifying their own clothes so they can conceal an entire chicken, five wallets, two phones, fifteen knives, a bowl's worth of candy, a fork and a small book in them frisk doing Weird Inventory Shenanigans and carrying an absurd amount of stuff in their inventory
re: undertale fandom i'm surprised we always see asriels as super soft... I mean the boy does seem to care about people for sure, very deeply but tbqh we even know that about him when he's flowey. Personally I think chara and asriel related over being 'bad kids' (esp since flowey has such a speech about how they're the only two who can understand each other).
:D Spoiler i think the "asriel is super soft" interpretation is a result of chara calling him a crybaby, his reluctance to do the plan, him refusing to kill humans when fused with chara, and how in his true form at the end of the game, his regrets about flowey and stuff were what he spent his time talking about. like, that's probably how it came about.
Yay i dug up my password to re log into kintsugi To celebrate, a pic of the inside of my Delta Rune shirt I love that easter egg in the shirt, i wonder if any of the other designs have different ones or if the dog is in all of them? (Note: shirt is folded to get Flowey and the dog both in frame)
i would never have expected to find anything interesting on the inside of a shirt. now i know, if i ever get an undertale shirt, to look there!
ironically im literally wearing that shirt in the pic rn (im assuming anyway, its the deep red one with toriel on the back right?). my undertale shirt has the dog inside too, so i think its the dog? but it might depend on the shirt design. i checked my other ut shirt (sans) and it has the same dog, but in a different position (sleeping)... so either there's different dogs for different designs, or the dogs are randomly generated! but if i'm right about the shirt in the picture, then our dogs for that design match so it might be a dog per design.
@unknownanonymous that does give me a good idea of why people might see asriel that way. i guess it has a lot to do with certain associations? like being a crybaby and having murder be your breaking point don't read as necessarily 'soft' things to me, but I can understand why they would be, and i guess those are things associated with such? i know i find the view i first had of asriel at the end of the game harder to keep steady because of the influence of fanworks... maybe that's part of it too. i suppose a lot of the time there's just this disconnect between flowey and asriel as characters (and not just bc of development) that people encourage and it makes me feel like i'm missing something. some step between the two when people characterize them? not just asriel being so soft, but flowey being so 'hard' at all times even in fanworks where he reunites with chara.
Ah cool! My shirt is the purple Delta Rune design. I feel like maybe the sans shirt has the sleeping dog because sans? That would be funniest to me anyway
yeah, certain associations and the influence of fanworks is basically it. and cinnamon roll + dark and edgy person is classic and thus applied to asriel and chara.
Yeah, the red shirt with the group shot and Toriel on the back has the standing dog on the inside. I am going to order the Megalovania shirt shortly and will report back :D
you know on the topic of 'what if underfell was the original', wouldn't the "in underrise sans and papyrus's relationship is weirdly desexualized" imply that most popular media had no qualms about showing that sort of stuff? and then the fanfic scene would include lots of taking the generally sexualized or abuse-toned or whatever relationships and removing the incest/abuse subtext, and less adding that kind of stuff to things
i guess it would. when i said that, i was mostly thinking about how in underfell and swapfell fontcest feels pretty much canon, just 'cause of the sheer set up of it, and how i get really confused when people say "no fontcest/problematic shipping/whatever plz" and also like those two aus/one of those aus. like, uh... okay, that sounds fake but okay... of course, the skelebros aren't the only people in those aus, but they are definitely the most focused on, thus my confusion. i was not thinking about what the statement would mean for the alternate universe of our world that underfell and underrise would exist in.
Possibly they like the general concept of those AUs but, like me, hate fontcest with a burning passion.
I wish to subscribe to them, please share links with any that you've got bookmarked.
