OMG, THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME. I LOVED HOW IT TIED 3 AND 4 TOGETHER, THE CGI LOOKED AMAZING,

AND THAT VADER SCENE. I HAVENT SEEN SOMETHING COOL OUT OF VADER FOR A WHILE. In 4,5,6 he doesn't do that many cool tricks, 1,2,3, we had a winy person playing him with that stupid meme at the end. The only thing that was close to Vader's power in this was force unleashed where a fight with him nearly blew up the death star.

All in all, this was a pretty epic movie. The only problem was that I could only remember a few names while watching it. I bet if I watch it again I'll get used to the names.

One problem that stuck out while watching it a second time: several attempts at witty one-liners that totally fell flat and were kind of out of character. You already have the sassy robot, you don't need everyone acting like they're 90s animated Spiderman.

agreed with the Vader scene, the way it was framed gave me chills both times I watched it :D

Same, basically. I got Jyn, which, eeh. I liked her well enough, but I adored Chirrut and Baze.

If I had any patience for long and poetic tumblr tags, I'd use "#I am one with the Force so do YOU want to go" for Chirrut.

So I finally got around to actually watching Rogue One.

It was, in a word, awesome. I really can't come up with a more coherent description. I do kinda wish we got more ridiculous skiffy firepower, but Star Wars has never been able to decide what its weapon yields are, so shrug.

Don't choke on your ambitions, director.

Come to think of it, the movie almost felt like a Star Wars RPG rather than a Star Wars movie, but in the best way possible. Pretty different from the usual fare.

    Also, I am fairly interested?

This thing. Warning for incest though. Which I didn't tag because tagging for incest in Kencyrath fic is like tagging for wizards in Harry Potter.

just saw it, cried a lot.

for those curious, Saw (Jyn's surrogate father guy) was actually a character in the Clone Wars TV series! His sister was awesome and
unfortunately died at the end of their arc, which fucking sucked, but it kinda made the way he ended up, bitter and ruthless, make sense.

I kinda loved everyone...also I feel a little bad but all the Vader scenes made me laugh because all I could think was "does Anakin build his own fog machines just for this". What a fucking drama queen. I love that trashcan.

So I just saw Rogue One and I'm gay for K2SO and it's lame because I have a type and that type is fucking token robot member of an otherwise non-robot team.

That aside, Rogue One was the best sci-fi adaptation of the Dirty Dozen I'd ever seen. Like it's the exact same formula as all those other "band of misfits held together with chewing gum and bailing twine accomplish something amazing" war movies.

That being said, I love that genre and I loved this movie. I know a common complaint was that Bodhi and the two Guardians didn't have much character depth, but I'm hoping they'll add more novelizations to fill in the gaps like they did with TFA.

One thing I was kind of Ehhh about was the overwhelming amount of callbacks - the two tattooine WATCH YOURSELF guys, the yavin watchtower guy, the little part with r2 and c3po, etc.

However, this movie perfectly nailed the like, dirty lived-in future feeling of the original trilogy and overall I think this was one of the best works in the franchise.

Because I'm apparently a genuine Star Wars fangirl these days, I thought I'd post the exciting new announcement of the name of episode VIII! "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will release in December. :D

That shot of Finn with his eyes closed at 1:20 - is he flying a fighter? Is he doing that thing that Luke did??

swirlingflight inane analysis and story spinning is my passion

I had a hell of a time with voices in that trailer. Was it Ben Solo saying he could sense light and darkness in balance? Was it Luke saying the jedi need to end?

yes to the second, I think, but I'm also not sure about the first.
