I can even see the back of my own fridge. That Tupperware might have had taco meat in it. Now it has evolved its own refrigerated life forms and pro-Colombian civilization.
Yeah, that's a legit complaint. I think the sort of ongoing thing with a bunch of people yelling at us about how we Aren't Doing Anything About Alix has led to a sort of assumption that the privacy concerns go away, but I don't think that's at all fair. (FWIW, it's been over a week since anything from anyone went in the Pear Wiggler.)
i think there is a second possible answer to that one though, and it's that the moderators already have done something about [x], just not where [general] you can see it
Hmm. I mean, that is technically correct, and a good point, but I'm also leery of both bystander effect and making people feel anxious about duplicating reports. Like, if someone posts something about being in a really bad place in a high-traffic thread, other posters might think that someone else will have reported it already, and I'd rather get like 8 reports than none if it's something we can help with, and also encourage us to do some kind of public follow-up so people know what's up and don't worry as much.
So if we get multiple reports on the same thing, they all show up as a single "report" with comments from multiple users.
(waves hand) I got wiggled! I asked someone to harass me instead of my friend, in Argument Island. ...Not actually sure what the problem was, now that I think of it. Sure, it was fighty, but it was in the fighting subforum.
I think that asking anyone to harass anyone isn't the best plan. There was a pretty distinct event that set this off, it wasn't just harassment for the sake of harassment, or because it's fun or anything, and I'm not sure if framing it that way might lead to further bad reactions. I'm pretty sure at least one of the involved parties has been talking to the mods behind the scenes, and the incredibly-indirect observations I had from this side of the mod wall have me the impression that there has been some forward development. And in a meta, speculative sense, given the character of a lot of the recent major blowups, including some aspects of yesterday's business, I think the mod team might be playing it safe with let-me-wade-in-on-behalf-of-my-friend right now. I've seen them sit on that in multiple directions recently (it's definitely not just one-sided) because I am addicted to the internet and compulsively refresh the site and see a decent number of things before they disappear into the ether :p
This is a thing that @seebs has made a point of saying "don't do that" several times. It doesn't actually help, it just makes more people mad.
