It is a badly-timed digression, but the point I think Nichrome's trying to make refers to how labor castes as a whole were talked about-- "something in their processor's just broken" was a common justification for treating them as less intelligent. 'Skinda a loaded phrase for those of us who're old enough to remember even if it is factually true sometimes.
