i mean, when i want to be sarcastic, it is sometimes because it feels like people are stripping my flesh off with the sheer force of stupidity?
I've heard "caustic wit" before, which also has the sense of flesh-stripping, so it seems like our expressions haven't changed that much in two thousand years.
Depending on how callused your feet are it should be fine-- the soles of your feet and palms of your hands have roughly similar temperature sensitivity, but if your feet are already protected by all that nice tough callus it'll be harder to feel through 'em.
