I guess now the question is, do I want her to pick them up by helicopter, keep them guessing, or by teleportation (also keep them guessing, because... apparation... doesn't work like that...)? Either way, that's a long trip, and I think I'll have her stop at the Lalondes' place, and possibly Egberts' as well, which gives me the opportunity to pick up more characters! Who will be just as confusing to the trio, which is always a bonus. Also, since I have Officially Decided that this is post-game, I will have fun watching them slowly realize that those ears are actually real.
I really want there to be a Transformers/Mad Max crossover. I don't want to write it myself, and I have no ideas for it other than "what if the War Rig was an amnesiac Optimus Prime" but holy shit I want it to exist.

If post-game, is it just the beta kids, or are there alpha kids and/or trolls in the wings to make an appearance down the line?
I'm edging towards making it beta Earth, but I'm unsure whether to put the alpha kids in their adult counterparts' bodies or in their own bodies, with their adult counterparts still dead. Option two gets added angst if all the kids slowly regain their counterparts' memories. Option one has angst enough, I think, what with Jane and Jake being dead and Dave and Rose's relationships with their guardians being what they are. Either way Dirk is going to have to deal with being Bro's counterpart and that won't be pleasant for him. Not that he'll necessarily appear... As for the trolls... I'll think about it, because I feel really guilty sticking them back on Alternia.
No pressure either way, and could end up being some character bloat if you did, was just curious. EDIT: Not like any of them would need to appear, anyway, was more just wondering if the kids who got traumatized by a troll would be shocked at hearing what some of Jade's friends are, which doesn't really require their presence I suppose.

Don't worry about it. I really like worldbuilding, to the point where I usually only actually use about half of what I come up with. And yeah, probably most of them won't appear in the actual story. Hmm, side story from Jade's perspective? Yes, I think I will.

I honestly see Vriska as Gryff -- she needs to be in the center of attention, be the hero. The Slytherins strike me as overall a little bit more subtle. (note "overall" and "a little bit") 100% agree on Slytherin!Karkat tho
I personally see jane as more of an atypical slytherin tbh, she may not be very obviously ambitious or cunning, but shes very stubborn about certain things she wants and strives to be, and her japes are top notch. Also if anyone in homestuck were to be described as creative and resourceful her and john would be pretty dang high on the list.

funnily enough, slytherin rose was one i was considering stealing ;p her and eridan mostly! buuut my reasoning for eridan is basically his interest in military history--we don't see it a lot, but sorting him into a house that would encourage the sort of historical geekery he might be into would be good for redirecting his impulses out of more destructive avenues. for sollux, he's incredibly self-sacrificing! yeah, he's smart, but he also died getting feferi into the game, and half-died again pushing the meteor, and was willing to do that for the greater good. that takes a fuckload of bravery, and imo is on-par with dave in that regard!
Oh nah everyone can do japes, i just meant her pranksters gambit reads very much like shes used to both the long game and in the moment corrections for Max Japetude, almost to the point shes most times more focused on the payoff than the joke itself. Plus her stubbornness is a lot more self based id say. She tends to be very into her goals and dreams, whether it be as little as her next cake coming out perfect to as widescale as one day being a worldwide baking mogul
Hufflepuff jane is pretty great too though, i just dont really associate things like kindness, tolerance, and that certain brand of blind loyalty to be her strongest traits
