Spoiler: AAAAAAAAA SPOILER SPECULATION okay but the thing I wonder is, since all screenshots show Topaz fused--could it be that these are two Topazes who are always fused? we know how Homeworld feels about fusion of different Gems, and fusion of the same Gems, but we've also gotten hints that Homeworld views fusion as purely a fighting thing--so how would they feel if two Gems, even two Gems of the same type, wanted to be fused all the time? it could just be chance we've only gotten fused Topaz screenshots, or maybe Topaz is fused often when fighting might come up, but now I wonder.
link to which thing Spoiler: also, a thought okay so if two Topazes fused make a Gem about the size of Jasper, we can assume that regular Topazes are probably maybe half the size of Jasper, or thereabouts, right? which makes me think....the topaz gem we saw in Horror Club kind of looked like a big gem. and judging by the gems on Topaz herself, they're about the same size in this episode. and I know Gem size doesn't necessarily mean anything, really, but--I dunno, it's a really big stone for a smaller Gem that's not even Jasper's size on its own, especially if they're meant to be fighting Gems, which it seems they would be from the screenshots I've seen? so I'm wondering if maybe they're harder to make due to size and not common soldiers and actually more powerful than a regular Quartz soldier, or if they're just really common and easy to make, and so they're typically used to fight in teams rather than just by themselves the way Jasper would.

@chaoticArbiter Spoiler: Re: thought Ok but Ruby was originally a body guard, and she's p short. The way Rubies seem to opperate is as a team, and then fuse to provide physical strength. Could be the same thing?
Spoiler: OKAY BUT GASP BECAUSE Topazes serving the function of body guards, the way Rubies do, would imply that Aquamarine is....Important. because the only Gems who we've seen be given body guards were Important gems, like Sapphire. like, I was assuming that these two were just something similar to, idk, the Ruby team, or Peridot and Jasper, but. what if Actual Important Gem. serious business now. THINGS ARE HAPPEN.
Spoiler: agree Aquamarine looks important, honestly--or at least extremely plot-relevant. And I kinda wonder if Aquamarines are somehow related to Lapises from the design and name, actually...fellow terraformers? (And given the fact that Lapis was implied to have once been part of Blue Diamond's court...)
Spoiler Aquamarine and possibly Topaz are definitely Important- Pearl recognized them by name and says the Diamonds must have sent them personally. Btw, is anyone sure the stills of Aquamarine are legit? She looks nothing like the shadow we see in the ad. No little hair sprigs, wings are different, hair is pointier, no sleeves....
Spoiler: so..... I looked at the shadow pic. first off--the pointy things that I'm figuring you're taking for sleeves? I think those are her arms. she's very small, after all, and shadows aren't going to be excessively detailed, and if they are sleeves, then she has no arms in the shadow. at all. so I'm pretty sure she doesn't have sleeves in the shadow or normally. and I think the wings are darker in spots in the shadow because there's something more there than the rest of the wings, which would kind of make sense for how her wings look in the leaked images--they have lighter spots in them right about where the spots in the shadow wings are, and they're in the same spot in every still, so I don't think they're light reflections. I think that whatever makes up her wings, she has more of it in those spots. and there's at least one leaked image that has her hair tie things and looks the same as the other leaked ones besides that. not to mention that the only leaked still proving Topaz is a fusion also has Aquamarine in it and she looks exactly like every other still I've seen, despite lacking hair ties in that one, and I'm inclined to trust that picture because iiiiiiiiiiit's weird and does not look remotely like anything people would draw after discovering Topaz's design and then have spread all over the internet. outside of that, wing shape is slightly different from shadow to stills, but that's....not quite as big a thing.
Ah, i see. With the shadow i was reading her arms as sort of like a shawl/cape and just thinking her arms were in front of her body.
Spoiler: Oh the sprigs are her wand(s?). Also cute to note that yellow topaz is sometimes called imperial topaz- fitting for a gem directly under her diamond.
Spoiler: OH oh my god that makes sense but also I WAS SO SURE THEY WERE HAIR TIES. like I was confused where they sat because her hair didn't seem to need a tie but also. oh.
