Spoiler aquamarine is such a good character but I hate her with a burning passion. I want to slap her but I know I could never get close enough.

Spoiler: Lion 4 speculation so I sure didn't catch this, but somebody on my dash reblogged a thing and now I'm very convinced so when steven wanted to know where that key goes, and Lion brought him on a very very long run through the desert, here's the place that Lion brought Steven to yet another ancient building with mysterious unearthly artefacts littering the landscape wtf are those pink things? it is a mystery that i didn't spend much of any time thinking about Spoiler: the speculative spoiler within but this seems pretty damn plausible
Spoiler: I Am My Mom, abuse discussion I've always kind of seen Steven's 'but what if I'm my mom???' 'I have to be like my mom' 'I'm not as good as my mom' as like - a child-friendly sort of reference to parentification and emotional incest, given all the ways he's just not allowed to be a normal kid because he's filling the void Rose Quartz left for everyone. Given that, I'm really worried by the end of this season being, basically -- 'Yeah, I'm totally my mom, take me instead!' It feels like a gigantic step backwards from the progress he's made in feeling himself out as his own person. I really hope that the crewniverse follows through on this, because, like... this is the sort of show which would have been massively helpful for me to see as a kid, because it discusses these sorts of issues. I hope Steven isn't going to have to stand on his own and save everyone just because That's His Magical Destiny, because his thinking that itself is just - he's hurt from being seen as his mother. It's a hard balance to strike, because I understand totally that in a cartoon that's sort of the plot you'd have... but given the ways the crewniverse has focused on how it's not really healthy (even just now with Lion 4!) I have faith that they're not just gonna play the standard trope straight. It's just really interesting to me how the show is dealing with these issues, and the fact that they're trying to deal with them at all instead of just pretending that these are normal and okay expectations for a 14-year-old.

The callbacks/continuity. This is like Homestuck all over again. Why does everything have to mean something? What's next, is Guacola going to be a reference to a green gem we haven't met yet? Are we going to see a real Bloodstone?
