hi i like potions and rune-based magics also i haven't read HP since high school. but i might contribute if any rps pop up! i'm bad at head canons for wizard school, all of my original creations are horribly lax when it comes to schools
I also figure that since we're (noncanon) basically by night vale, not only are we super unregulated, but it's also hard as fuck to Come Here to regulate. so not only is it the america system, and the west system, but it's also like, the weird conspiracy level america west system
I think we decided that sorting was a more natural thing than an assigned thing, though idk if anyone wants to change it
huh. actually they didn't need much other than that their family definitely fled the EXCESSIVELY RESTRICTED part of wizarding america, because FUCK THAT SHIT
yes they do. dad runs a bookstore. it is a weird rundown little thing, which is full of books that are a) probably not in print and b) probably very sketchy in addition to, you know, normal books it's probably where you gotta buy your school books from XD the store is super cramped and mazelike and might be larger than it should be
Hey so are there any worldbuilding aspects we would wanna change or flesh out from last time? (And can SCA please please please have math and languages arts classes thats what I hate most about Hogwarts)
yes. yes good. we will have math, but it's called WIZARDING math on the course schedule, like all other "normal" and "helpful" classes. I....need to read through the original thread! I personally liked most of it I think but the last time I read it was like a year? maybe?
Yeah, same. I wanna make a worldbuilding masterpost but low on spoons. Was going to just quote a bunch of things but then realized that quote pinging people might be super annoying
tbh I was going to do the same thing, haha like, making a quote masterpost at the end of the original plan thread, and then linking to here
Petition to say arithmancy contains normal math? Just make that a standard instead of an elective. Since the name already is mathemagic basically.
Also comparative magical and muggle literature and history because those are also important, not just STEM fields. I think Herbology can easily include, in fact probably does include biology, same as Care of Magical Creatures because plants are plants ans animals are animals, magical or not. Potion probably can include chemistry, etc. (Hagrids approach to lessons notwithstanding, since even canon mentioned Hagrid was not a good teacher) Physics and charms could probably be great comparative courses again, learning how the muggle version works and contrasting what magic does to fuck with it.
Basically I´d be a lot more in favour of adding those things into the magical classes, because frankly i hated real life school and would prefer my magic school Rp not include too much of it.
