I think I might be more used to Seekers - or fliers in general - with the explosive kind of armaments. [He hadn't had any himself, at least not for use in flight]

  2. Wiretap of Altihex

Wiretap of Altihex Medic. No, really.

You'd know better than I would what they carried once stuff kicked off! I just got to listen to everyone yelling for their personal guards. Good test of my range, I'll give it that.

Depends a bit on what sort of mission they'd run, but explosives weren't that rare. Depending on if it was going to be somewhere where we'd have people on the field, too [He shrugs] It has been a while, admittedly.

Jetfuel. Take that liberal nonsense and stick it where the sun don't shine. Can't make me be a person if I don't wanna be one.

    [karkat raises one eyebrow]
BUT PRAY TELL! WHAT *ELSE* AM I SUPPOSED TO TREAT YOU LIKE, STUPID? LET'S ALL TAKE A MAGICAL JOURNEY TO THE LAND OF "I CAN'T TREAT YOU LIKE A COFFEE POT BECAUSE COFFEE POTS DON'T TELL ME TO SHOVE MY NONSENSE UP MY CHUTE, YOU MORON"
OR WAIT! PERHAPS I HAVE ALREADY MADE A CRITICAL BLUNDER, BY RESPONDING TO YOU AS I WOULD ANYONE FLAUNTING THEIR ASTOUNDING LACK OF PAN MATTER. SLAP ME IN CUFFS AND TAKE ME TO THE FUCKING POKEY, BOYS, THERE'S NO ESCAPING THIS CONVERSATIONAL FAUX PAS. WERE I A TROLL OF EVEN MIDDLING INTELLIGENCE, I WOULD HAVE REALIZED SAYING ANYTHING AT ALL IS JUST PLAYING INTO YOUR SICK GAME. BUT ALAS. IT IS I, THE BLEEDING PUSHER LIBERAL YOU'VE BEEN WARNED ABOUT, RELENTLESSLY HAVING CONVERSATIONS. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I MAKE ME SICK.

Is... is there a specific reason you don't wanna be a person? [The mind boggles at that like wtf. Longterm abuse? Concern face+ concern wings, someone please get a shrink in here]

Wiretap of Altihex Medic. No, really.

[Local tiny radar dad precursor makes a noise like he got stepped on. Why are the Bots just as awful, who hurt his not-son???] No. We can't, and I'm not gonna try. I wanna be a person, though.

"And I'd absolutely agree with you," Dhara says firmly. "Those were two separate conversations, at least for me. If someone's having a conversation with me, I feel safe in assuming that they're a person."

Farrat glances at Scanner. "Well, no, I can't make you be or do anything, and I wouldn't want to try. But you're a sapient individual, and that is what 'person' means--or should mean, anyway. What does the word 'person' mean to you, that you don't want the label?"

    [He cackles.]
Exactly, talking to me is your first mistake. You don't get to acknowledge me because that acknowledges that we always. listen. Always. There is no escape from the Audials on the Comm links.
Real people are capable of moving without being in orbit around someone. Real people can leave orbits without becoming a vaguely mech-shaped bundle of glitches and error messages. Real people have, yknow, any identity outside of other things other people chose for them.
People know how to be people.
Sure. knock yourself out. I'm not really in a position to tell people what to do with themselves. Just a tool and all.
[He makes a very rude gesture, potentially something involving literal screwing motions.]

[He's dearly tempted to rub his temples but doesn't, though his wings stay twitching and unhappy] I think that's a very limited definition of person, considering how deeply some mecha bond with other [What with being a carrier and all, he's familiar with being that involved with someone, several someone's even] And I would say that you can't be expected to have an identity of your own yet if nobody allowed you to have one before, but that doesn't meant that you can never have one?

Farrat grins at him. "Am I to take it you've gone pitch?" He shakes his head. "More seriously--you answered my question when you answered ...Updraft, I think? Everyone starts out with an identity other people chose for them. Nobody knows what grubs are going to be like even as wigglers, let alone adults, but they're assigned identities anyway. The one I was assigned was even changed, once. Different societies appear to offer different amounts of resistance to rejection of imposed identities, but it's possible to be yourself on the inside, at least, and everyone has to struggle to maintain their own identity. I'm not dismissing the fact that this has been made harder for you--perhaps by programming, even, but I'm hoping you might feel less alone in this particular struggle. The orbit thing...sounds potentially changeable, if you wanted it to be changeable."

[Oh lovely it's that sort of brainwashing, just lovely] And you don't... see a problem with supporting someone - or a religion - that views you as merely a tool? [Frankly if Wiretap has another one of those speeches stored somewhere, this might be a good moment for it because what in the pits is wrong with people in here]

Error code 404 sense of self not found, please try again at a different time. That different time is never.

Seriously have you people never heard the word 'no'? If you're so fragging into rubbing one out over my right to self determination, here's a novel notion: I don't slagging want to fight my brain that hard. I've determined for myself that self determination is too much effort with too little payoff. Now if you'll excuse me I'll go back to bullying people into telling me what to do so my fragging loyalty coding shuts up as is my primus given right. Aft.

[Loyalty coding. Loyalty coding. He's very very close to screaming, but he doesn't because that's not going to help and just.... loyalty coding. No just no, even though he doubts that responsible person is still available to grab by the shoulders and shake until their processor falls off]

[Ah lovely, avoidance. Not that he doesn't understand the base motivation but he can't really excuse it either. Not when it props up such a terrible system]
So, better for you and what about the rest of your people? [He's muttering that part very quietly, below hearing really.]
