in all sincerity I'm REALLY excited for assignments to be handed out. I haven't properly written anything in a long time, somehow I've just been having issues around finding prompts for the things I want to write, or I find a great prompt but can't pick who to write it about, and this like, gives an explicit prompt and the people to write it about, so like.....I'm genuinely super excited, I'm finally gonna write something again!!

.....so probably because I have a Personal Attachment to Nepeta, I firmly headcanon her as some sort of Native American. her family didn't immigrate or anything, they just existed there from day one. outside that, I headcanon most of the others as parents/grandparents immigrated to USA for convenience in story-writing, but here's the general idea of the place those people would've come from: Spoiler: the list, now including ethnicity headcanons Karkat: came from Italy and Ireland, but at least his father's side of the family is Romani, while his mom's side is Irish. Aradia: Israel, and her family's Jewish on that side, and the other side came from Thailand and Vietnam. Tavros: Poland on one side, Russia on the other; the Russian side is Armenian, while the Polish side is just Polish. Sollux: Iceland and China. Nepeta: Native American, different tribes on both sides, but I'm not sure which tribes yet. but she's 100% Native American. Kanaya: Saudi Arabia on one side, Wales on the other. I am somewhat interested in the idea of hijabi Kanaya, but I headcanon her family as not being Muslim, so I'm not sure exactly how I would make both a thing, but shrug. Terezi: Belarus on one side, Liechtenstein on the other. Vriska: Russia on one side, India and Egypt on the other, but she looks really Russian so most people completely miss the Indian and Egyptian heritage until they meet the rest of her family. Equius: Indonesia and Finland on one side, Afghanistan on the other. Gamzee: Syria on one side, Greece on the other. Eridan: Ireland and Scotland on one side, Iraq on the other side. Feferi: Ethiopia and Georgia on one side (yes it's a place that is not a US state), Brazil on the other side. and the alpha trolls are usually pretty much the same, because in most humanstuck stuff I write, they're older siblings of the beta trolls.

Going with rough ethnicity headcanons here, I'm gonna agree with the general trend of "their ancestors immigrated to the US for plot convenience." Bonus Kid headcanons too. Spoiler Aradia and Damara- Japanese because Damara. Tavros and Rufioh- some variety of Native American/Native South American. Sollux and Mituna- some variety of Asian but not Japanese. Karkat and Kankri- some variety of European, very pale with dark black/brown hair. Nepeta and Meulin- some variety of Asian. Kanaya and Porrim- either Indian or some variety of Middle Eastern, that's probably not the right term to use, I'm not sure what the term to use is. Arabian?? Terezi and Latula- Scottish/Irish. Terezi is ginger, Latula has darker red hair. Vriska and Aranea- part Spanish, part Native American/Native South American. Vriska leans toward the latter, Aranea toward the former. Equius and Horuss- some variety of Northern European, light brown hair and blue eyes. Gamzee and Kurloz- some variety of African. Eridan and Cronus- I don't know?? My least distinct headcanon. Possibly blonde, blue eyed European but with dyed hair. Feferi and Meenah- part Pacific Island Native, part some variety of African. John and Jane- some variety of African. Rose and Roxy- Some variety of Northern European, pale skin, blonde hair, blue eyes. Dave and Dirk- Some variety of European, blonde hair, less pale than Rose and Roxy. Jade and Jake- "West" Asian? Not sure what the right term is? Asian, by not Japanese/Chinese/Korean. If I'm being offensive or using terms incorrectly for my headcanons, please tell me so I can fix it.
