Come to think of it, are there "PTA Undertale"-style fics where the protags get one over on the bigots by some means other than making a scene?
that's a good question and hmmm... i just found one in which sans and linda debated vaccination and linda triggered sans so sans had a meltdown and went away without dunking her or winning in any other way. but i think that was only the first chapter, so sans might dunk her/win eventually.
I think I've seen one somewhere, but I don't remember which one it was. Sorry. Incidentally, taking the time to add a complaint of my own: the way they all keep using the name 'Linda' for their obnoxious bigot OC just really bugs me because I know someone named Linda in real life and she's a wonderful person who holds basically none of those particular political views. Like, I'm aware that there are only so many stereotypically common 'middle-class middle-aged suburban white lady' names, but it always makes me twitch a little.
Friend says they also spent an entire paragraph describing how incredibly, amazingly, mind-blowingly comforting a hug from Victor was, and added, "Hey, Yuuri, maybe you shouldn't be getting comforted, because you just hired a hitman to kill his ex."
holy shit! it just occurred to me that if sans got pta linda too upset and linda thus touched him too aggressively or put an object against him too aggressively, he could (probably) literally die as a result. humans are stronger than monsters, after all, and he does not have much hp. and i know, i just know, that is one take on pta linda that hasn't been done.
Unfortunately my experience is the opposite: my mom's name is Linda and shes is EXACTLY one of those people....
@Lizardlicks I'm very sorry to hear it. Ironically, the 'Linda I know in real life' I was referring to is my mother, I was just trying to be discreet because I occasionally worry about putting too much of my information online. (Clearly my mom is the superior Linda. The Lindalpha, as it were.)
It's actually a pretty common name; one of THE most popular girls names from around the mid 1950's and stayed popular through the 1960s. Which may also be why it sees such frequent use as short hand for the PTA mom personality type, because statistically it's probably the most often encountered name of a mom when PTA meetings were starting to become a Really Big Thing, and also, given the age range, they'd have a pretty high likelihood of trotting out those eye-rolling, gut-groaning commonly held baby boomer views.
Okay but now I want to write a fic where Sans visits 1 PTA meeting and dies because of Linda and Frisk has to reset. Possibly with the "you have to want to go back with all you have" LOADing headcanon-the one where typically you have to die to LOAD properly...
What the heck is with the lemon bars? I've seen PTA Linda bring lemon bars twice and I've only read three of the fics.
Seriously, of all Undertale characters I'd see soapboxing about anti-vaxxers and person-first language, I'm pretty sure Sans wouldn't be the first person I'd think of. Yet it's almost always him.
They've been cast out from PTAs across space and time, but they will have their revenge. The universe will taste their lemon bars, and despair!
Mute Frisk in the PTA things is making me think of an origfic character I haven't done anything with yet, who can't speak very well because her nonhuman ancestry manifested in extremely sharp teeth and not the corresponding toughened mouth-skin. And both her dads are notorious thugs. Their 'verse doesn't really have PTA meetings but I'm sure I can do something with this.
