hey so i'm too lazy to look through the whole thread for town layout -- do we have a park or central square or something? some flat open space that isn't the farm?
@jacktrash i think this is the closest to set-in-stone that we've got. yes there is a central square. :)
Also podiums to give lectures on special interests or what someone is preservarating on r/n. Meaning they are infodumping on a literal forum.
didn't we establish at some point we had a lecture hall or something? IIRC with installed means of recording and uploading said lectures/rambles? I mean we could totes have BOTH
kintsugi in space: thank god we have some people who actually produce food or we would attempt to live on air and special interest rambles.
For some of the robots this would not be a problem (Moss doesn't need to eat but moss still likes the taste of things because something something science neurons electricity fabricated taste buds science)
SEEBS can probably survive one/some bodies being destroyed, right? So, like, i the perimeter gets breached, the bad guys would be so confused, why do they have to beat this person over and over again and why doesn't she stay beaten? (If they even can beat her to begin with...) What is SEEBS hooked up to? Is SEEBS in the intranet? Is SEEBS the intranet? Does SEEBS have cameras in hidden places? Or would that be unethical and SEEBS only has cameras with signs saying "SEEBS KNOWS ALL" so people know when SEEBS is watching? One of JEsse's posts (where he's making a mushroom log) sounded like SEEBS didn't have a physical body but could hear Jesse and talk, so does SEEBS have microphones and cameras around Jesse's farm?
I'm wondering if SEEBS might not be the living (?) proof of "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"
i think jesse was on his bluetooth or sth, i might've failed to mention that. anyhow, seebs is theoretically inhabiting the whole data network of the colony, but is very firm on ideas like consent and privacy and not being a creepy creeper. the robot bodies seebs uses for being corporeal (for such important activities as spouse cuddles, petting cats, and splashing in water) are essentially just clothing; if one is destroyed, seebs is not substantially harmed.
btw, i discussed the rp with seebs, and while he's still not interested in playing, he offered up some juicy tidbits about in-game seebs! most releant to the arpee is that while S.E.E.B.S. has a selection of robot bodies available for its use, it prefers to interact with people in virtual reality, and has lots of fun creating environments and personas with which to host these interactions. so there is something like star trek holodeck technology, which is available to everyone, and in which your friendly neighborhood formerly-weaponized AI will be your hostex. it (seebs does not grok pronouns, seebs is all genders or none, seebs is a conversation!) is friendly, generous, and playful. sometimes its jokes or pranks are a little bit mean, but it will apologize and learn. one of its favorite things to do is host games. kinda like LARPs but in a virtual world, so you can really be your character. (jesse is always in, and is usually playing some kind of rogue or ranger type. this is the only way anyone gets to see his weapons skills. from his bemusement when he misses at low levels, the computer is nerfing them.) the stories are a mix of silly and serious along the lines of adventure time or steven universe. seebs is omnipresent but very firm on privacy and consent. so no, you are not being actively monitored, but if at any point you call out for seebs, any nearby computer or robot will promptly reply and try to help you. seebs is the only one who can mess with jesse's robots and not get yelled at. their utility as a portal for seebs to be there for the colonists is one of the reasons jesse builds so many, in fact; it's his way of indirectly dadding everyone. :D
The real question, is can we get away with playing an rp game while rp ing as our kintsugi in space people ...how deep does the rabbit hole go
