ALSO I forgot this but basically I think that as a method of sorting the axes put a disproportional amount of fucked up kids in one house and then because it's boarding school and there's a preexisting bias against the house the caretakers are like "lmao whatever punch each other out for all I care Slytherin sucks" which is SHIT

 

Also it should probably be evasion and not trickery because trickery has negative connotations but evasion is pretty neutral.

I will die on the hill of "Karkat is not a Gryffindor." I'm fine w/ either Slytherin or Hufflepuff, tho I guess I'd prefer Slytherin just as a rebellion on how...nothing the comic made him. God homestuck did wrong by Karkat

Eta: like at the v least Slytherin or Hufflepuff would be the traits he most ideals or most acts towards, respectively.

How does canon do wrong by its own character?

 

I always account for what house the character would have wanted to be in as an 11 year old goober. Karkat would probably be a better fit in hufflepuff, and Vriska would be an excellent gryffindor, but I feel like both of them would have asked the sorting hat for slytherin.

Last stretch of homestuck disregarded a lot of like. The characters individual arcs, the foreshadowing, ect. It followed through on a few (Dave, mostly, and kinda John and kinda the Alpha kids), but not many.

 

idk tho vriska has always heavily idealized gryffindor archetypes (if not always its traits) so i feel like she wouldnt want slytherin sheerly because its the """""bad""""" house and she is THE MOST HEROIC HERO TO EVER SAVE YALLS DUMB ASSES obviously

 

She always struck me as more about cunning and plotting and having all the irons in the fire? I'm not disagreeing that she's more Gryffindor, but I don't really think she started rushing into things herself until she god-tiered.

I think she's a Slytherin who thinks she is/wants to be a Gryffindor. But she aint, cause she's Vriska.

I now seriously want her to be Hufflepuff and having to deal with the plot insignificance of that house.

 

She will drag hufflepuff into the limelight by the scruff of their necks if she has to, maybe even if she doesn't.

 

What are "slytherin things"?

 

things like 'plans more thought through than literally everything vriska has come up with ever in her life' and 'having any form of cunning whatsoever'
