Right, at home with the wifi that only me and my family use, with my computer that has non-integrated graphics. Maybe I can actually run this.

 

If there's a chance we can update this so that my 3-pixel arm skin doesn't look like as messed up that would be awesome. If not that's fine too, most of the mods are compatible with higher versions I think?

 

It is, unfortunately, too laggy for me to actually play.

 

i know this is months late but found 2 mods that might be interesting

• a simple life - inclues Mo Creatures, Pam's Harvestcraft, Witchery and some others that look nice
• tree spirit - a specific modpack/map to replicate the challenge with some new bits

So, I've been wanting to get back in the saddle on my LP for a while, but... unfortunately, due to computer problems, was out of commission for a long time. And then I recorded this video. With a cold. It's uh. Not my finest work, but I don't really want to re-record.

So, if anyone has the tolerance for it, can you watch this and tell me, on a scale of 1 to 10, how much this hurts your soul?

 

SUDDENLY THERE IS SOME RECIPE BOOK BULLSHIT AND POP-UP NOTIFICATIONS APPEARING EVERY 20 SECONDS AND NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE THIS IS MY RAGE FACE HOW DO I TURN THIS FUCK OFF??!?!!?!?!!??!!!

I HAD a really neat new spawn started about two days ago but if this is just how the game works now imma have to start a new one... otherwise I'll never acclimate to new controls, it'll just drive me batshit because all my screen positions are different. (Don't... even ask, it's a thing about where I put my camera when I do repetitive activities, I can't explain it better than that)

 

Thaumonomicon and scanning, or something else?

like yes good it finally gives you recipes with out having to tab out to look it up on the wiki but the pop ups are kind of...meh

edit: you can use a command to give yourself all the advancements, also, though you might want to get the later ones naturally. you'd type in "advancement grant <player> everything". looks like you can also grant advancements up to a certain advancement, with the commands over here, but that may be more complicated - I'm not sure how the advancement trees are laid out but they branch.

edit also: as for the tutorial, all googling will tell me is that everyone else hates it too. hopefully it is not too long

 

Ah, I hadn't heard of that, I don't play the newest versions of Minecraft. I stick to modded Minecraft.

Incidentally, mods already solved the recipes problem far better than this. (Not Enough Items and other mods like it let you not only search up items and look at their recipes in-game, but allow you to see everything you can make with an item!)

 

true. but the wants of the players =/= the wants of the game designers
far as i could tell they want to keep some stuff a mystery while still making it easier. which is why the weird system they have now.

but yeah, there should be commands you can do to give yourself all the recipes and achievements so you no longer get the pop ups. i don't know them offhand but the official wiki would be the first place i'd look

 

Is the "connection timed out" error caused by an issue with my router? I haven't been able to get on the server in a while.

If they wanted some things to be a secret, they could've just hidden them in the search area or the recipes until you'd done certain things or crafted one.

Also-are the popups actual popups or like Thaumcraft's scanned-a-thing messages?

 

See that box in the corner? It makes a little "vwoop!" sound and appears whenever you get an achievement or "discover a new recipe" which seems to mean "acquire craftable stuff you've never had in your inventory before." For some reason it does this with every different flower and type of wood. But it actually is not as game-breaking as I thought it would be at first. You don't HAVE to use the recipe book when you craft, and it doesn't take that long to run out of unique new items to add to your inventory.

 

they ARE set to not show up until you do certain things
those things just tend to be "pick up X object for the first time"

and it gives you stuff for each flower and wood block because the dyes and wood blocks, while working the same, do have different game values and are seen as separate things each time

you can set it to not allow you to craft a thing until you get the "knowledge book" with that recipe(s) but thats mostly for adventure maps or very limited survival maps

the other option is to do the command that gives you all of them at once so you only get the pop-ups once

and yeah you can hide the recipes by clicking the book icon when you're on a screen with a crafting grid

 

I last upgraded like two years ago when I added a bunch of mods from the Kintsugi server. I'm still on 1.7

Is that still the Good Version for mods? I haven't looked in actual ages.
