Update- still kicking my ass. I have found a video by IGN with a strategy for getting through the chapter, am following the instructions down to which tile to move to each turn, and Frederick keeps dying on the second turn. I've done this five times. It seems like the only thing I can do is keep trying until the RNG stops screwing me over, but that isn't very fun. There's nothing I can do to prepare more, but I haven't done anything wrong.
Awakening Lunatic Chapter 2 is brutal. I've gotten through it a few times, but I don't remember how. Chapter 3 and 4 aren't as bad as the first few, I'd say, then Chapter 5 is quite possibly the most annoying in the game. After that, it starts getting more manageable, although that's still relative.
In my experience, the hardest part of Ch3 is the first couple of turns where you clear out the enemies on one side - I think the left is usually easier? Then you have a bit of breathing room to deal with the enemies coming from the other side. Once you've finished the bottom half of the map, you can really take your time with the top half and play it safe.
I've yet to make it to the top half without losing someone. No one except Frederick, Kellam and Vaike can take a hit, and the latter two are very slow so they get doubled.
Doesn't matter now, problem solved. I got through that chapter, unlocked the DLC bonus items and used them to beat chapter 4. Now I can grind, so I can actually prepare for the battles. It's gonna be smoother sailing from here onward.
Wow we haven’t used this thread in a long time, time to revive it for Fire Emblem: Three Houses discussion. Who else has it? What house did you all choose?
I have it, and... wow, they really took in people's criticism of Fates and went the completely opposite way everywhere they could. I love how we got 3 (4?) complete, 50+ hour routes in one game, and same-sex paired endings for characters that /aren't/ Byleth (even if Byleth still only has one real m/m option). I picked Golden Deer house first because I heard the other routes are more heavily involved with each other, whilst Claude just kind of does his own thing. Plus, I just like Claude best out of the three lords (in terms of the actual house members, I prefer the Black Eagles, but I poached them all for Golden Deer anyway). I'm a few months into the timeskip now and finally promoting some of my units to Master classes.
I went with Black Eagles, haven’t reached the timeskip yet (no spoilers pls). And wait there’s same-sex paired endings for other characters? :^o nice! Spoiler Too bad about the Alois and Gilbert thing though...
There are! Some more ambiguous than others, though, and aside from Byleth's, I don't think there's any where they outright state that they got married? (Alois is a particular shame because Alois is the kind of goofy dad type that a lot of people would have really fallen for. I love that guy.) All things considered, though, I'm glad there's much less focus on pairing off any guy/any girl to produce child units.
It's a lot of fun. If you've played any Fire Emblems before, it's quite different in terms of the job class system- everyone starts out as a neutral beginner class, can progress to any class. and can be reclassed to any class at any time, as long as they meet the criteria. You only need seals to /unlock/ the class. There's also bonus abilities that get unlocked when you master a class, and I think they're permanent once they're unlocked (I think there was a similar thing in Fates, but it was level-based not experience-based?),
I think the last one I played was far enough back that there was No Grinding At All and I chose poorly early on or something in a way that prevented me from doing much without restarting, and I just sorta lost interest. This woulda been at least two console generations back.
(Was it one of the Radiance games? Sounds like one of the Radiance games. It's quite easy to play yourself into a corner in Radiant Dawn, especially). There are definitely opportunities to grind in Three Houses- with the whole class mastery thing, it's encouraged, in fact!
