My RPG adventures always begin on the moral high ground with good intentions and endless possibilities. Then it all inevitably goes downhill, because no matter what it says on parchment, every single character I create is actually a Low Elf Battle-Felon.

Heaven knows I've tried to shake things up. I mean, I tried being a Dung Elf Battle-Felon once, but it didn't take.

I love the game shows on the Food Network; they've inspired me to cook, and I've cooked several okayish meals using my big brother as a guinea pig. Cooks vs Cons (two amateurs compete against two pros, while nobody knows who's who); my favorite of the three, Cutthroat Kitchen (chefs bid using prize money on ways to screw each other over), and the granddaddy of Food Network game shows, Chopped.

Chopped has a simple and appealing premise: there are three rounds (appetizer, entree, and dessert), and in each round, the four chefs are given a basket with four mystery ingredients that must be used and feature prominently in the dish, while being given a pantry of other foods to supplement the cooking. At the end of each of the three rounds, one chef is eliminated - chopped - until a champion remains.

Now, I also love when companies try Internet polls with no restrictions. I love when they learn that attempting to poll the Internet goes awry.

Some executive at the Food Network decided to do a Viewers' Choice episode of Chopped, where all the mandatory ingredients for all three rounds were chosen by an Internet poll. There's literally nothing that could go wrong with that, right? Like, the viewers wouldn't just fuck with the chefs by choosing disgusting, non-synergistic, or weird foods, right? Right?

Appetizer round: lime jello-, imitation crab meat, crunchy cheese curls, DURIAN
Entree round: canned whole chicken, clam chowder, tater tots, skirt steak
Dessert round: fruit cocktail, cottage cheese, kale, marrow bones

Beautiful.

 

I´m kind of intrigued how one would make marrow bones into dessert.

 

At least one person used them to make gelatin but it's been a while since I watched the episode haha
