All I can think is those comics where Calvin got socked in the nose and couldn't talk because it was all bloody and filled with tissues. That is the only thing that comes to mind when this kid gets dialogue.
If the author hadn't specifically clarified multiple times that they were not making any of the characters disabled, I'd wonder if this was a particularly inept attempt at a speech impediment. God. Why is this happening. Who gave any writer the idea that this is how children talk.
That sounds less like a child and more like a Cthuloid monster in false child form, demanding sacrifices.
is there like an extension or app or something that can take fics that don't have spaces in between paragraphs and make them readable because otherwise i'm drawing a blank on how 259 people were able to tolerate the EXTREME BLOCK OF TEXT NO SPACES HERE NO SIREE for long enough to read this fic and give it kudos
When you get three-fourths of the way through a halfway decent fic and that one popular fanon trope that you hate with a passion shows up without warning:
I mean, if someone managed to make a 100% fluffy zombie apocalypse AU, I'd totally read it. Of course, there's also the comedies, but shhhhh
If I wrote a fic where readers could skip entire chapters (of what I can only assume is very tragic sex, possibly involving the undead?) and not have their overall reading experience compromised in any way, I don't think I'd advertise that fact.
so there's this fic thats like. A lot of things that are right up my alley (ot4, hurt/comfort, magitek trooper au) but like. It's not good. And I keep getting really bored and going "oh, I'll give it another chance!" And making it a bit further than I did last time before giving up again. This time, it was because the genetically enhanced trained from birth demon soldier went, "But I'm so ordinary compared to you!" Like. There are better ways of transferring the character's issues to this kinda au.
I do also see a lot of long, plotty, porny fic where it's broken up in such a way as to allow readers who aren't down for the full sex to still enjoy the story. It works sometimes, probably. I dunno how much those readers would actually be missing because I never skip the sex.
I'm pretty sure I've complained about epithets before, and complained about transformers epithets in particular. But oh my god, in the middle of a heated sex scene, please don't call one of your characters 'the power shovel'
Yeah. not unless being a power shovel is directly relevant to the heated sex act. Spoiler: animated gif Ooh baby. Such action.
In this case, it was just distinguishing between an entire set of constructions, so there were many, MANY disruptive alt mode epithets flying around :p

Some fics, I really appreciate having the [smut scene starts here] [smut scene ends here] notations for easy skipping. There's a lot of smut I do not enjoy reading, even if I enjoy the characters and characterization and story around them, and very few of those fics where the smut is essential to understanding the rest of what's going on.
