So "bitch bark" was a minor worldbuilding bit for Palladium that I contributed to my group. We were dealing with the Wolven and their relatives- great big ol' canid furries pretty much. Bitch bark is the slang term for a fertility tea (or, specifically, the main ingredient). That is, you drink it if you want to be a bitch. Hoho we're very clever.

Except it came about because I kept misreading 'birch bark,' which led to me constantly typoing 'birch bark' (For some reason never 'birch' on its own or as part of other terms never tripped me up. No bitch woods, for instance) until we made it a Thing. In fact we decided bitch bark is in fact a fantasyland relative of birch.

Palladium is linked to Rifts, so there are Wolven and relatives in the Three Galaxies. Lith has been stranded on at least one backwoods planet where they grow bitch bark.

Also all this talk of shitty summoners has activated Ford's PTSD, if he is unpleasant to someone when I start responding again that's him, not me. He never knew he was making a damn contract, the idiot. *loves him anyway*

just to be clear: Ford and I have both got PTSD about being bullied as kids, family bullshit that's a little too similar, adult traumas, and some paranoid ideation...but I have NEVER got into trouble summoning chaos demons, so there is like zero chance that any bitchy response from him is anything other than him.

 

IDK if Helios knows this or not but Ford is attempting to do a science here. :p

 

Grimm is by this point just being a salty old man wolf for the sake of being salty probably. if this goes on much longer they will summon birch-based-booze and get hammered because they hate scientists so much with their questions and their curiosity and their wanting to know how things work ugh

 

Unfortunately this is what happens when you tell Ford his theories are wrong. Either he finds out his theories are right anyway, which is vindicating, especially if you started the conversation with a line like 'Speak for yourself, mortal', or he finds out he's wrong, which is exciting and then he HAS to know more.

 

(Also in case you're wondering why Grimm flipflops between "he" and "they" so much during their internal narration, it's that technically demons don't really do gender but Grimm's old grumpy man-ness is so strong I accidently slip into he all the time)

I'm loving how Grimm is actually curious in spite of him/themself. :p
