If I had the foggiest idea how to useImgur on mobile, I'd certainly fork it over. I guess I can just link the Tumblr post instead? http://www.babygoatsandfriends.com/post/111704551675/sweatered-loaf
I think you have to be signed in, and then use this link (closing the app ad). So here is the genuine goat loaf:
i love how they both want each other and both fear taking the next step, how they are both in that stage of hesitancy and "omg i can't but i wanna." i love how that's portrayed there. :D:D:D
there's a lot of Really Freaking Excellent artists on Twitter who have a "do not repost" policy, which means their art doesn't get sourcelessly spread around as much as the tumblr stuff that makes it to ifunny and pinterest and everywhere under the sun. it also means i don't want to post the image itself, even though i have a general policy of posting images with their sources. i promise, this papyrus image is worth it
undersinning (but not the kind of undersinning you probably are expecting) :P sloth being light blue is actually perfect 'cause in undertale, it is patience (which does have quite a lot in common with sloth) and associated with sans, who is lazy (and has issues with depression and executive function exacerbating that too) and i can see anger fitting with determination, at least with chara and flowey. and maybe frisk. anger does seem like it would make people determined. purple and yellow feel like they might be associated with metatton, and i see both their sins fitting him. i don't see any obvious counterparts in green, dark blue and orange, though.
I'm not up to actually going Serious Analysis Attempt on this myself right now, but if it interests you, here's some more fun sin trivia to potentially fuel your thoughts! (This is mostly going by memory + a couple quick googlings to remind myself of terminology, so please correct me if I'm getting something totally wrong.) 1. By one system of classification, each of the seven deadly sins is the opposite of one of the seven heavenly virtues. The pairs are, respectively: Lust / Chastity Gluttony / Temperance Greed (also known as Avarice) / Charity Sloth / Diligence Wrath / Patience Envy / Kindness Pride / Humility Envy/kindness actually matches the color that stands for kindness in Undertale, green, as does integrity (blue) if like me you parse it as a clearer and less loaded word for the same concept as chastity... and I guess maybe you could say justice (yellow) too if you figure that justice and charity are sort of related concepts? A couple others are also Undertale virtues—patience is the light blue soul's virtue, and perseverance (another word for diligence) is the purple soul's. The remainders (courage and determination, temperance and humility) don't match up, though, at least not under the list of seven virtues that corresponds with the seven deadly sins. The more traditional list of seven heavenly virtues groups them into two categories. The four “cardinal virtues”, considered the fundamental qualities needed for any human being to live a moral life, are prudence (the ability to reason and make good choices), justice (the ability and drive to treat others fairly and see that the right thing is done), courage (also called fortitude; the ability to overcome fear and uncertainty), and temperance (the ability to practice self-control and moderation). The three “theological virtues” (or “heavenly graces”), which are more religious in nature and so named because theologians believed them to be only truly attainable by the grace of God, are faith, hope, and charity. This list hits a couple of the Undertale soul virtues the other one doesn't, but it still doesn't hit them all, and the theological virtues are too specifically religion-based to be very applicable unless you stretch the meaning imo. And then of course a lot of people have proposed alterations to both of those lists or mixes of them both, because there's never a consensus on religious stuff, so. There's pretty much no limit to how many ways you could spin it if you want. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 2. In addition to colors, animals have also been associated with the sins! Specifically: Lust – cows/bulls Gluttony – pigs (unsurprisingly) Greed – frogs Sloth – goats Wrath – bears Envy – dogs or goats Pride – horses, lions, or peacocks 3. Some other misc. stuff: Lust is generally used to refer solely to sexual desire, but iirc technically it can mean any desire for earthly pleasures/achievements, and specifically the issue of being controlled by those desires in defiance of better sense and morals. Similarly, the virtue of chastity more generally refers to the strength to resist temptation and do the right thing regardless (like I mentioned, integrity is a good synonym). Likewise, gluttony is generally used in reference to food, but it really means overconsumption and excess in any area, food or otherwise; that's why the opposing virtue is temperance. Some theologians separated the seven deadly sins into earthly sins and spiritual sins. Lust, gluttony, and greed are the former—sins of the flesh related to earthly matters—and are considered less grave than wrath, envy, and pride, which are considered more fundamental moral failings of the spirit, not just the flesh. (Sloth I think is generally considered more of a spiritual failing, but I'm not positive.) Pride is typically seen as the worst and most fundamental sin from which the others stem, and I've seen lust described as the least serious a few times. … And with that, I should probably see about getting to bed soon. >_>
Aha, I thought I'd seen someone write some meta on the same subject before and I've finally managed to track it down: http://dahniwitchoflight.tumblr.com/post/130818425362 Also, I think you can pattern match Undertale's virtues to the traditional set of seven without too much stretching. Justice is... well, justice, obviously, and courage and bravery are pretty much synonyms already, so that's yellow and orange covered. I think it's not too much of a stretch to match patience to prudence- calmly considering your options and situation in order to make the right choice. Similarly, I think integrity and temperance can be conflated fairly easily- remaining true to yourself and doing what you know to be right, even when it is a great struggle. So now we've got red, green, and purple left to work with the three theological virtues. They're also sometimes listed as faith, hope, and love, but whether you refer to it as love or charity I think Undertale's interpretation of kindness fits that one pretty well. Matching perseverance purple to hope isn't a bad option either- choosing to continue on, even when it seems impossible. The main issue with finishing this is that we don't actually know what soul virtue red symbolizes. It might be determination, but we're not actually sure about that.
So there's an Undertale musical and its now a complete thing you can watch right now and its great. I've been listening to the songs as they've been released for a while now and I can't hear the music without hearing the lyrics in my head.
Cw: suicidal themes Edit: this is a beautiful animation, the emotions are projected really masterfully
