I just read the new Lost Light. Spoiler Cyc is ok, whirl is ok, Tailgate is in a Sticky Situation and I can't say anything more than that without spoilering what's probably going to become a nice new plot point. I don't even like tailgate and I'm dying, ohmygod.

Spoiler: Spoliers LL7 ok so I REALLY ENJOYED this issue and I am SUPER PUMPED FOR THE FUTURE. THE CONFLICT! THE TENSIONNN! SO GOOD. I'm excited because whenever JRO does something really terrible to multiple different characters in consecutive issues, we eventually get an overarching resolution arc that solves everything at once, usually in the craziest way possible. I'M EXCITE. also I like when character feel emotions and there were SO MANY. SO MANY EMOTIONS. and loved the insight on Rodimus and Ultra Magnus!

ohhhh my god oh my god Spoiler: LL07 Well there's why the last issue was such an unsatisfying climax for the arc. That was peak action with minimal story focus. THIS is peak story. I haven't been so tense and happy and wound tight and excited since issue 55. GOD. Also this issue and the last one both finished with 'the end'. Tailgate sure ain't gone forever, so this is making me extra skeptical that Megatron is out of the picture for good either. I need to write more later, when I don't have an actual job I need to be actually doing. But this is totally an arc about backsliding. I'm seeing for.... Cyclonus and Tailgate, for sure. Nightbeat's comments to Brainstorm about breaking make me nervous. Swerve is not okay, please stop joking about ditching him. I'm not so sure Ten is great either. Rodimus is fucked up. Ultra Magnus is fucked up. Drift is making me nervous. Lug's fix makes me nervous. Anode's cockiness and self-assurance make me nervous, especially given Lug. Nautica's eye makes me nervous. Rung hasn't STOPPED making me nervous, and telling him about this alternate universe where he was de-personed even more than he's been in the main timeline makes me more nervous. Kaput is making me nervous I am DISAPPOINTED IN FANGRY, but he can go sit in gay baby with Terminus. Gimme mid-war decepticon character development. Maybe he'll run into the Scavengers. I drifted away from backsliding in there, but it applies to most of them. Not Ten and not Nautica, because if they struggle it will be shiny new problems, not old ones eating at them. I need to write a LOT of words. AND I HAVE NEVER LOVED CYCLONUS SO MUCH IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, MY HEART BROKE LIKE TEN TIMES. Oh my god, that was so beautifully heartrending. Especially seeing Cyclonus hurt and upset and being rejected. God. I'm breathless. That's one of the best things I've read in ages. (also, I've been getting myself all hopped up on cyclonus emotions as it is, so if you're in the mood for another hit, try zuzeca's optimus/cyclonus/galvatron fic (nsfw, SOOOO many subby cyclonus emotions) (I hope I grabbed the right link :P). It's pure G1, not IDW, but it's delicious. I wasn't expecting to care, I just saw the interesting tags, but now I care so much. And there's all kinds of interesting angles in here to inform a cyclonus characterization.) And that self-harm scene hit me right in the heart. Right in the personal heart spot. Spoiler: self-harm :V I have a scar down the back of the first joint of both my pointer fingers, little scars, but just done with just my nails, so it was a slow process, just a blunt nail over the same path over and over. One of them is from, umm.... high school and one from college, so those experiences are way way way behind me. And most common forms of self-harm have never appealed to me, and even this isn't really something I've revisited, but I can still remember how hypnotic that particular headspace was (and I'm not going to lay out lots of self-harm emotion words here, but wow do I have 'em). Cyclonus as character has always called to me, but he screams to me after this issue.
