We're not all kids, but a lot of us are. When we first crashed Lorenzo, Missy, and I were the only ones who landed safely and Missy was the only adult. Others landed, but most of them didn't make it and the ones that were were injured. So it was just us three doing everything while the others recovered. Most of the kids came from raids. The low-tech factions and some of the others- slavers are bad about it- send kids in their raids. We try to patch up everyone who survives one, everyone but the pirate raiders and the warbands appreciate their people coming back alive and well and we've managed to turn relations around a few times. But we don't like sending the kids back to people who'd send them to fight us and they're easy to convince to join. And Missy and Lopez just had their babies, right on the same day and everything.

I just. Don't think of myself as a kid at all. I don't think any of us vatbabies do. I was on my way to my second battlefield when we crashed. Figure my childhood's kind of already past saving.

There's a ship somewhere on the planet. An AI Missy used to know told us about it. But it's kind of on the other end of the planet. So we need supplies to get there, and we might need supplies to fix it. The AI promised to get us off the planet if we found the ship, but he didn't promise it'd be easy.

That would necessitate realizing some of the mechs they built their thrones on the backs of are, y'know, People and not just props.
