spare torso??? as in, extra torso? what the fuck? i'm preeeeettttty sure that spock only has one torso
They might be using it in the sense of lean. I've seen it used to describe a kind of scrawny body type, but yeah, it's not very clear here. Or maybe they meant "swole" and autocorrect got shirty
Maybe sometimes he isn't mind controlled and he's just using it as an excuse to do un-Vulcan-like things?
If I had two working hands, I'd do a funny art or photoshop, but as it is I'm just popping in to Humorously point at my username (this whole conversation has been hilarious to me)
@spockandawe I think this is a good moment as any to confess that I've been inexplicably reading your username as "spock and dave"
I mean I know why I'm thinking about Daves, I don't understand why I read it that way because I did see the w clearly and stuff, I was aware of the w
Finding lines from fics for which I will never know the context. I recently found one I saw a while back on wtf-fanfiction, and I don't even remember what fandom it was from, but I really would love to know who thought it was a good idea to describe something or other as being "like being flayed alive, but in a good way". And now I think of it, there was an old Weepingcock entry in which a character "wanted to vomit, and not in the good way". I wonder if, if they weren't the same person, one writer read the other's stuff.
Well, if the character had a kink for vomiting ... that's the only case I could see where you should have to specify that.
A very specific-to-me gripe: I dislike it when authors take a relatively effeminate male character and make him a girl. It doesn't bother me when they genderbend non-effeminate male characters or non-masculine girl characters, but I guess it bothers me when the only way a person can conceptualize a character who does not strictly conform to the gender binary is by bending them. And I know that that's hardly the only reason and this is largely irrational, but. That's just how I feel. Mostly I just keep my head down and don't click on stuff. Related, but separate issue: when people write a fic where the whole point and plot is romance, and then change one character's gender. Mostly male/female, nb doesn't bother me. And that's rarely done anyway. I understand that in most cases it's just a case of "how would things change if so-and-so was a --?" but I still can't help but feel like it's a way to make things more straight (I see this mostly in queer parings because that's what I read). M/f pairings are slightly squicky for me, which is probably why. Anyway, this has been "Jean's irrational fic-based gender hang-ups", thank you for listening.
I get disproportionately irritated when one character's gender is flipped and nobody else's is. I keep feeling like at least one other person ought to be flipped the other way for balance.
Oh my god. Porn writers really need to learn how to not describe sex acts as if writing for medical text books.
Catch me writing all my faves doing pushups during sex so they can stay swole and it's basically the right movement, right?
