Excuse a stupid question but literally what is a computer: If i tape something to a half of my laptop screen at eye level, will it show during a skype call on a build-in webcam of my laptop that's poining straight ahead? I don't think it should, right?

No, it shouldn´t. the camera is usually above the screen, even if it´s for some strange reason at the bottom, the thing would just obscure it and you´d have to put it higher.

Yeah it's at the top, right in the middle. I'd put the thing somewhere else, but then it'd show that I'm looking not-at-the-screen

A friend of mine was complaining about this, and since there are a bunch of autistic people here, I figure friend isn't the only one who could benefit from advice on this, so: does anyone have advice for doing job interviews for people who are compulsively honest?

Ive found it helps to practice answering peoples questions as succinctly as possible, and lean towards elaborating only if asked. Also there are a few things most interviewers are asking only in formality, and you can answer with something scripted instead of honesty because its not really a question (i cant think of any examples currently, sorry). In these specific situations its also best to treat anything that you can answer with a "most of the time yes" as a hard yes, and anything with a "most of the time no" with a hard no. Its damn hard to resist the need to explain why sometimes you could or couldnt thing, but unless you absolutely think its relevant, they dont really need to know.

The only problem with using this approach is it can make you look really abrasive and standoffish sometimes, but its the best approach ive come up with so far -_-

    1. They can't ask if you have a car, and bikes/public transit/walking count as reliable transportation.
    2. Look at faces and don't fidget if you can help it and they're less likely to push you because it won't ping as lying.

It's against Paypal's ToS to make an account if you're a minor, though, and they'll shut it down if they find out you made it before you turned 18 (even if you're over 18 when they find out).

Ok this is probably kinda a dumb question but: I actually don't know how public transportation works (I live in a rural area). I'm going to be in Minneapolis this week for a conference, and I'll have a decent amount of free time, so I'd like to be able to get to places. So: how do public transit?

Trains stop at every stop no matter what. Buses stop at any stop where there's someone waiting to be picked up, but if there's nobody there, they'll drive past it to save time. There should be either a cord to pull or a button to push near your seat, a block or so in advance, so you can signal the driver when you want to stop. (This was something that surprised me when I moved to the city.)

Carry quarters: often bus fares aren't round numbers of dollars and the drivers don't make change.

A quick Google brought me to this site for the Minneapolis/St. Paul transit system, which should answer most of your other questions.

Okay, so on metro transit busses (which are what you'd be taking in Minneapolis) what you'd wanna do is get a go to card, then you don't have to worry about counting out change, you can just put the card in the reader and it'll give it back to you. Say local, if you're going to be staying in Minneapolis, and when you are near your destination, pull the yellow cord along the top of the wall. The drivers are friendly in my experience, after you pay you should be able to get on and sit down on the seat nearest them and ask questions, as long as nobody else needs it (those are preferred seats for disabilities, wheelchairs etc.) When I used them, i'd sit there and just get ready to get up when we stopped in case the seat was needed.

How are you packing your tobacco? This is normally a problem of air not circulating properly - either too much air or too little, although too little is more common. If you tamp your tobacco down tightly normally, I'd try packing the pipe a little more loosely next time, so your fire can breathe. If you pack it pretty lightly, try tamping it down more.

You also want to pull on the pipe gently and steadily while you're trying to light it, and if it looks like it's going out don't do the puffing thing where you pull in a rhythm, do the gentle steady pull again. The idea is to pull in air at a slow pace to allow the smolder to spread a little.

I don't think it's the same website you're looking for, but Tip of My Tongue is somewhat similar and might come in handy in some of the same situations?

anyone know if there's a way to stop YouTube from autoplaying related videos on ios?

i sometimes like to fall asleep watching YouTube on my ipad, but i DON'T like waking up 4 hours later with it still playing something that's only barely tangentially related by that point.

I don't have an ios device so i can't check if this is still accurate. But, there might be an option in settings if this doesn't work.

I'm having a bit of a tiff with friends, and would appreciate advice.

I'm mutuals with two IRL friends on Tumblr. They occasionally reblog discourse posts I find obnoxious, but I've tailored my blacklist so it catches most discourse, so it hasn't been a problem. Until yesterday, when both of them reblogged a post saying (paraphrased, will link upon request) "I don't trust anyone who calls themself queer, they're probably a creep". As someone who self-describes as queer, and who is viscerally uncomfortable with pretty much every other sexuality descriptor, that was a real slap to the face. I reblogged the post from one of them with commentary saying as much. She hasn't responded, but she's on mobile and doesn't often check her notifications.

So, should I message one or both of them telling them how upset I am? Should I just ignore it? Should I wait until they start ranting about something like this when we meet up IRL (which happens more often than I'd like) and let them know I don't want to have these sorts of conversations? (They have a habit of getting up in arms about kink in general, too, which is bothersome to me as a kinky person, but I haven't had the nerve to ask them to not rant about how gross kinks are around me yet either.)

(Side note: I really enjoy hanging out with both of them when they're not talking about Sexuality Discourse. I've just installed an Xkit extension to hide all of their non-original posts, which means I won't see their discourse but I will get to see their life-update personal posts, which is why I followed them in the first place. I'm just not sure if I should address this or not.)

ETA: I've been furious about this all day yesterday and today, and I had to take my PRN anxiety meds to avoid having an anxiety attack when I first saw the post. So a lot of what I'm feeling is anger that this fucked me up so bad and neither of them seemed to have noticed, which is why I'm conflicted about contacting vs not contacting
