Church is in trouble. With Lissa. Lissa is a cheerfully ethically slutty Talassani girl and the reason several people attending anime conventions have been ejected therefrom and/or slugged by Rev Ford, because if Lissa is mad enough and defends herself there might be manslaughter charges whereas he'll just give them bloody broken noses. She likes hentai and anime fine but the word 'catgirl' not so much.

 

damn. church didn't really mean anything by it (it just seemed like the best convenient shorthand for what he meant at the time) and now he's terrified. and lissa's reaction to what the robots said made it worse.

I know he didn't mean anything by it, but the language he used did give away that on some not-so-conscious level, he does have trouble remembering that these are people, not fanfic characters/fantasy tropes. It's like that situation where you say something you didn't mean to be racist, but it kind of is, even though you didn't mean it that way, so you still have to apologise, because you have racism fleas instead of narcissist fleas? Only everyone is raised around racism, unlike narcissists.

 

yeah. that and he has trouble remembering that this is not how you speak to/about people themselves. he has macho-testerone-military-culture/avoid-talking-about-feelings-and-being-soft type fleas. like, if he'd mentioned robot porn and catgirl threeways around most of his canon friends, he probably would've just gotten a "fuck yeah" back and high fives and whatnot. that kinda thing. and nobody probably would've thought of the robots or the catgirls.

 

Ironically the robot catgirl currently present doesn´t give a fuck. :P

 

Yeah and I think it is harder for Lissa than it would be for Valiska to be around human nerds because Lissa does have that cheery, friendly, slightly ditzy personality that camouflages how smart she is that anime catgirls have.

Valiska, if she talks to strangers at all, you quickly forget she's a "catgirl" because she's a nerd, and she's too ladylike in personality to come off like Nuku-Nuku.

Lissa kind of acts like an anime catgirl, but she's actually a Blood player, so she seems like she's being slutty when she's actually making connections through sex just like she does through shared special interests and conversations with other parents and fussing over people who look like they could use some fussing. She may have sex with a guy she just met, but if she does, it's because her first impression of him was 'someone I want to know', and you don't get to lay hands on her if she has any spidey senses that you don't respect her as a person.

Wrench did that classic thing that would normally offend her of hitting on her when she was making passes at girls, but he did it with stars in his eyes (even if she hadn't yet seen his eyes) and clearly gave off with body language and pheromones that he thought her sluttery was awesome, and that being included in that would be an honour. Whereas when she said "sometimes I just want to fuck at parties and I'm not as picky as normal," and Cronus said, "where's my invitation to those parties" her hackles went up, because of the implication that he wanted to meet her when she wasn't picky. And that is like never a message you want to send Lissa. She believes in Lazarus Long's statement that sex should always be friendly.

 

Because the microaggressions in her culture are different. Throw some functionalist shit about beastformers as a porn trope out and I bet she'd react rather differently. Assuming of course that she's paying attention :p

That would bother her less than more overt statements to the effect that beastformers are not people. She was forged in a time when nevermind microaggressions, the macroaggressions were likely to kill beastformers or at least cause them to die for say, lack of medical care. Not to say that microaggressions didn´t happen or didn´t also hurt people, just for an early decepticon sawbones really isn´t very politically minded beyond the original wanting equality.
