When I picked basil flowers for another wine mazerating project today I saw so many bee friends QuQ We get a lot of white-tailed bumblebees around here (FUZZYWHITEBUTTBALL SO CUTE) but I am pretty sure i saw a western Honeybee on the basil too and a bee i have never before seen! I think he or she must be a Carder Bee of some kind but people who know more about bees than me may know better. They were a bit lorger than the honey bee, very fuzzy and very distinctly pretty dark with an orange fuzzy butt. Like bright fiery orange.
but anyway I am so happy that bees like our garden. bless the fuzzballs.

Mmmmmaybe? if it was one of those it was probably a girl. we're more in the north so that'd be a pretty rare find :P

That's closer! i think she had a larger portion of orange but that may be individual variety! But the coloration matches more closely

Red-tailed bumblebee! :D We get them a lot in my garden - I suspect we might even have a small colony in our back wall - and I judge the queens to be one of the first real signs of spring. It ain't spring yet if the fluffy goth bees aren't out XDD

I went to my local country fair this weekend! Saw the usual fantastic array of doggos, cattes, as well as guinea pigs, mice, goats, sheep, and cattle :D Also, the falconry people who come every year had a new addition - a four-month old Great Grey owlet, who was basically a foot-tall ball of charcoal-coloured fluff with enormous yellow eyes XDD

Also, I got to pet their European Eagle Owl again, because she is made of chill for all her handlers like to joke about her eating small children XDD

Oh also my local reptile shop/photography business people made a showing, and I got chased by a tortoise the size of a pitbull XDD

EDIT: Owlet was about at this stage, slightly fluffier (my phone camera decided to malfunction all day, so I didn't get any pics :/) -

So wise. So elegant. So shocked XDDD

They look fluffy with those tiny scales.

There's a murder of crows that hang out on the power lines outside my house. I think it's the same group because I go out once a month, sometimes less, but they say hi to me every time. I should feed them, since they seem to like me.

We also have an owl I never heard, but it used to hang out on the roof and shriek every time dad went outside to scare the shit out of him. Might still be hanging out but dad moved so there's nobody to complain about it.
