I need to go home soon but if this continues (I'll monitor my phone) this might be a job for パシフィカ マルフォイ. She and Marius von Fundshauser read all the old shoujo manga and of my current characters she would know best.

Sprocket is blushing because my headcanon for Insecticons includes tentacles of a sexy nature.

    from Weirdmageddon Tango chat:

MamaValiska - Today at 4:58 PM

Valiska and Lissa are both beautiful Siamese or Burmese cats, but Valiska is the sleek graceful one who stands around and waits for her glory to be acknowledged and Lissa is the one that rubs up against your feet until you fall over or pet her, whichever comes first.

I don't, but I need to convince a catte that no, she can't experience that, lol.

@Beacon of Praxus is my newest OC, he's somewhat of an ex-priest (formerly of Primus), and he still considers himself clergy albeit a little less formally these days, he grows nutritional additive minerals in his crystal gardens and he transforms into a very sexy Porsche 911 Carrera 4s with this paintjob. All of his internals are gold. Yes all of them. He's an autobot.

@Codeless, is the blueberry really a big dangerous monster, or is it an actual blueberry?

Still roffling over Sprocket asking the sacred harlot to explain why celibacy.

Lissa can tell you what it is. She sure as shit can't tell you why anyone would do it. Even the assassin cult doesn't forbid sex. It encourages you to view sex as a means to an end, and it discourages unsanctioned reproduction (they did a lot of the early research into contraceptive methods). But catte societal crazy as expressed through religion generally does not take the form of unnecessary restrictions on who is allowed to fuck whom, provided the basic conditions of full sexual maturity, explicit/enthusiastic consent, and disclosure of information needed for explicit, informed consent are met.

There are certain forms of high-level energy magic that require the practitioner to be celibate for safety reasons for a certain period of time before and after the work, but there's absolutely nothing like purity culture.

TO BE FAIR robot sex is (at the point when Beacon was a priest) still entirely just for funsies and the temple he was part of understood themselves as both guardians and caretakers (both emotional and financial/economically) for the population of Praxus, even aside from the whole ascetism deal they also had going on.
"You shouldn't bang your subordinates, or people under your care, or people who look to you for spiritual guidance and help, or people who are dependent on temple charity, because ethics" under that doctrine pretty much just translates to "Just don't bang anyone ever, it's better that way." This isn't like a rule because anyone who belonged to that temple ever tried to take advantage of anyone it's a rule so they don't have to rehash the debate over and over every time they have a new-forged primus touched coming to join the temple as a priest :P "No really we mean it when we say everyone who is a Child of Primus is implicitly under our care as clergy, which means it'd be kinda ethically dubious to try and seek out a relationship with the power differential involved. Just don't fucking do it. No exceptions." shouldn't be something that is even remotely hard to follow as an argument in Beacon's mind.
Combine that with the fact that Beacon is actually somewhat of a natural ascet who devotes himself fully to taking care of other people and serving the community without even thinking about it, even if he looks like the quivalent of a gilded roman catholic rennaissance church and that he doesn't actually get being attracted to people casually and is rather annoyed by people trying to flirt at him bother him while he works... well he's a bit cranky that people insinuate there's a more sinister reason for clergy celibacy other than "Don't be a douche, deny yourself superfluous worldly desires" (especially because he doesn't like expect that from everyone who is religious, just people who make a career of being religious, mind you, and only those who're also Priests of Primus From Cybertron, he's quite aware that other religious and other subsects have other ideas for how to do things right)
Plus he isn't even actually celibate anymore he's just super monogamous. His current believes are mostly "you should treat yourself to things you like as long as everyone else involved directly is okay with that"

We know he's neither celibate nor ascetic now.

It's just...Beacon probably was a good priest (and Ford would even think so) but religions like that actually do separate the clergy from the laity in a way that can (and in organic historical societies often does) create the power differential and allow the religious governing body to have substantially more power over the people than it normally would. It's a lot harder to get people to side with the Vatican against the villagers when they're married to one.

Anyhow, I get what you're saying but my characters don't know any more than what they hear said. (I feel like a lot of times people explain stuff to me about their characters' perspectives on OOC and yes it's interesting and I appreciate being told that nobody's actually upset with me when their characters are upset, but at the same time, if you want this information to have any effect on what my character does, somebody needs to tell him. Because yes, there are many aspects of Transformers lore that I am hellaciously ignorant about, but even if I did know them, I would not let my characters know them. Like the thing about Starscream and Megatron, which I actually knew, but I also knew there's no way Valiska would know it.)

Now of course they have some really major biases like everyone else's, but there's a lot of stuff that wouldn't be remotely hard to follow as an argument if Beacon actually said all of it. (Although Rev Ford being Rev Ford, he is likely to think that there is something hinky going on in the upper echelons and Beacon swallowed the Kool-Aid. Getting him to agree that there's a logical basis for an argument doesn't do anything to solve the problem where he thinks that in large hierarchical groups the people at the top almost never believe the high-minded stuff they are telling the middle management. That's probably what Beacon is reacting to as smugness, but all Fords are paranoid about something.)

Heh. It´s an entirely alien concept to him, pun not intended. Also while insecticons are pretty orgnaized, their religion really isn´t.

Ftr The starscream megatron thing, I wasn´t upset by that. Just to make sure that´s known.
Just wanted to explain OOC why Starscream well, didn´t agree with someone praising Megs in any way.

I just did that xP I kind of tried to spin the argument thread here first so I actually had the like logical step-by-step beacon would explain :P (I'm also making most of this up as I go, all we canonically know of Praxus is 1) Prowl and Bluestreak are from there (and thus Praxian grounders probably have doorwings like them seeing as Prowl is Bluestreak's moldsake), 2) it used to be an intellectual and cultural center, 3) there were crystal gardens, 4) it gets carpet bombed early on in the war in pretty much every continuity and is almost always just a crater by the time the story proper starts)
And I mean Beacon doesn't ave the best opinion of the Prime(s) that cmae before Optimus seeing as he keeps calling that one false Prime :P He is fairly sure individual temples are usually good. He isn't actually much of a fan of theocracy either, though he lets it slide as long as it's OP and OP still has all his wits about him (which means that where IDW canon stands at by now Beacon is kinda :excalibur: about OP, he's not like against Rodimus but he isn't exactly there to be a theocrat (which is a point in his favor all things considered) and while he isn't exactly a fan of Starscream either he was democratically elected so eh, better than nothing.)
